Whitney Port Rocks The Top Knot

I’m sorry, I love me some Whitney Port, but this top knot on top of her head has got to go, gurl. The hair-doughnut the star of “The City” showed off on the red carpet at the 4th annual DKMS gala made the pretty Miss Port look like she just popped out of a genie bottle. Well, it could’ve been worse: Look at Jennifer Lopez‘s bird’s nest. [4/29/10, NYC] Keep reading »

How Are We Feeling About “The City” These Days?

My fascination with “The City” ebbs and flows, but for some intangible reason, I always drift back into it. Maybe it has something to do with the facts that Olivia Palermo fascinates me (she kinda reminds me of Fallon from “Dynasty”), it’s always interesting to see the behind-the-scenes at Elle — Joe Zee is so charismatic! — and when Kelly Cutrone shows up, the thin story line gains some edge. Mostly, it’s one of those fashion reality shows that works, despite its flaws. Season Two doesn’t begin until Apr. 27, but I’m jammin’ on this preview. Looks like I’m in for a few more episodes. Frisky Q&A: Whitney Port Talks East Coast Vs. West Coast Style

Whitney Port is the only celebrity designer we can think of at the moment who seriously paid her dues in the fashion business. Over the years she has interned at W and the fashion trade paper Women’s Wear Daily, worked as a contributor at Teen Vogue, and as anyone who’s switched from “The Hills” to “The City” knows, beat the pavement for Diane von Furstenberg and for Kelly Cutrone‘s now famous PR firm, People’s Revolution, which let’s face it, is no cakewalk. Now that she’s wrapped the Whitney Eve Spring 2010 collection and “The City” season finale (watch the entire season at MTV.com if you missed it), she took five to sit down and talk some fash smack with us. Roxy Olin: The Worst Reality TV BFF Since Heidi Montag

You didn’t watch last night’s episode of “The City,” did you? Yeah, I didn’t think so—the show is a bit of a snooze fest. But this season there is one big, huge saving grace—Roxy Olin. The producers brought her in to replace Whitney’s BFF from last year, Erin, who was too nice for her own good and not nearly dramatic enough to hold our attention for more than 10 seconds. So the producers plucked Roxy to be Whitney’s new bestie—Roxy supposedly is a friend from grade school who decided to move to New York to embark on a fashion career. And yes, you have seen her before. Her papa produces “Brothers and Sisters” and her mama, Patricia Wettig, stars in it, so she’s had a guest spot on the show as Michelle, a role she reprised last week. Oh, and she was also on an episode of “The Hills.” Remember the first time Lauren Conrad met Stephanie Pratt and got into a fight with her and her friend? Yep, the friend was Roxy. Sneaky trick, producers. She obviously wasn’t cast for either role—both are totally authentic. That’s sarcasm, people. Keep reading »
