Tyra Banks Wants To Turn A Plus-Size Teen Into A Model

Tyra Banks might be ending her talk show, but that doesn’t mean she’s out of ideas. Tyra recently announced her latest project — a modeling competition for plus-size teens only, called the Fiercely Real Teen Model Search. “I’ve always felt it was my mission to expand the narrow perceptions of beauty … I challenge industry and universal standards by featuring and celebrating non-traditional beauty, and stressing that true beauty is both inside and out,” she told Us Weekly. So TyTy is calling on teens between the ages of 13 and 19 to enter her modeling competition. The contestants must wear a dress size of 12 to 20. And shorties need not apply — only teens who are between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet 1 inch tall will be considered. Tyra will announce the finalists on the March 2 episode of the “The Tyra Show,” and the winner will be revealed the next day on the talk show. Keep reading »

Shocker! Employees Say Tyra Is A Tyrant

Now that Tyra Banks has announced this season of “The Tyra Show” will be her last, disgruntled employees are bitching to the gossip rags about their “difficult” supermodel boss. “There had been high turnover of employees for years,” a source told New York Daily News, dishing that the show allegedly had a lot of unhappy employees during the five years on air. “She and the higher-ups on the production staff could be extremely brutal … She really is a diva.” Another source added, “Everything had to be done Tyra’s way.” Somehow we don’t find these shocking allegations too hard to believe. Boo! Tyra Banks Is Ending “The Tyra Show” This Year

Bummer, dude! Tyra Banks has announced that after five years of fierceness, this season of “The Tyra Show” will be her last. No more period shows? No more slut-shaming sexually active teen girls? No more women who hit their boyfriends? No more trampling fetishes? And worst of all, no more “smeyesing“? Whatever will we watch on daytime TV now? Keep reading »

Girl Talk: Is A Lack Of Physical Attraction Really A Cover-Up For Other Relationship Issues?

On yesterday’s episode of “The Tyra Show,” Tyra spoke with a married couple who were barely having sex because the woman no longer felt attracted to her husband. She said she wasn’t attracted to him since he put on weight and admitted that when they did have sex, all she could think about was getting it over with. The audience seemed to be expecting a big ol’ whale when her husband walked out on stage, but the guy was actually pretty average looking. As a result, the experts on the panel concluded that there must be other issues in their marriage, if the wife was that repulsed physically, and the audience agreed. So do I. Keep reading »

Kiki T. Takes On Tyra Banks!

Today was a great day! Two of the people I would most like to have sitting at my table at a dinner party appeared on TV together! That’s right, our own Astrosexologist, Kiki T., appeared on “Tyra”! Kiki sat down with the wackadoodle talk show host to talk about the astrological signs that are most likely to cheat — Gemini and Pisces, FYI — as well as answer audience member questions, much like she does in her “Ask The Astrosexologist” column on The Frisky. Check out her appearance above and then get your own dose of Kiki by reading her Friskyscopes and “In Bed With” columns. Keep reading »

It’s All Tears On Tyra’s Teens And Parents Sex Summit

My love-hate relationship with “The Tyra Show” strikes again: Yesterday Tyra hosted her first-ever Teens and Parents: Sex Summit all about teen sex. Alas, calling it a “summit” is a rather grand way to describe 13-, 14- and 15-year-old girls dishing about the dozens of boys they’ve slept with, while their moms sit backstage doing the face-palm reaction.

Throughout her show, Tyra shared little tidbits of information with the audience about what the kids are up to these days, like having sex in public places (79 percent) or hooking up with two people in one night (58 percent). Wowza! Where did she get these so-called “stats”? They were gleaned from visitors to Tyra’s website who filled out a survey about teen sex, with questions seemed more designed for shock value than usefulness, like, “Have you ever had sex on your parents’ bed?” Keep reading »

“The Tyra Show” Allegedly Coached A Guest To Say Racist Things

Meet Vecente. He was a guest on “The Tyra Show” for the judgment day episode and said some really hateful and hurtful things about another guest because the guest has dark skin. As you can see from the video above, Vecente makes some statements that are really infuriating, but he reportedly claims the show’s producers and Tyra told him what kind of character he was supposed to portray. He also says the talk show is scripted. Vecente says his racist, politically incorrect statements were only for television purposes. [Media Takeout]

He could be lying as a result of the backlash he’s received since his appearance aired, but I’m pretty sure I’ve caught “The Tyra Show” using an actor as a guest at least once. I watched an episode from the first season, I believe, in which this guy who Tyra said was a lawyer in real life was supposed to pretend to be a stalker so a woman could learn not to trust men she meets just because they look wealthy. A few hours after the episode ended, I saw the same guy in a commercial for something that slips my mind. He was an actor and the commercial continued to air after that episode. Keep reading »

Tyra’s First-Ever Period Show Was Bloody Fantastic!

I can think of lots of momentous events I wouldn’t want human pit bull/Baby Phat designer Kimora Lee Simmons around for — and inserting a tampon in my coochie for the very first time is one of them. But on “The Tyra Show”‘s first-ever program all about periods, Tyra Banks shared how, at the ripe-old age of 26, Miss Fabulosity coached (bullied?) her on how to insert a tampon. An applicator-less tampon. There’s some mental imagery for you!

But Tyra’s period show wasn’t all about famous women pushing Tampax up their lady flowers: Tyra invited three doctors on the show to explain why Aunt Flo comes to visit. It’s a ghastly state of affairs for sex ed if grown women are learning why they get their periods on “The Tyra Show.” Still, I learned lotsa stuff about my monthlies thanks to Ty-Ty … like, you can still get laid if you go to bed wearing an adult diaper on your heavy flow nights. Proof of THAT above!

Tyra (And Her Real Hair) Is Back And Chatting With Perez Hilton

“The Tyra Show” came back for its fifth season yesterday! Perez Hilton (barf) stopped by as the first guest. But the main event was Tyra Banks, who is usually weaved to within an inch of her life, hosting the whole show with her natural hair.

Unforch, Tyra’s real hair is anticlimactic—i.e. she’s not bald. Underneath those weaves and extensions she sashays down the red carpet in, she has regular, boring, shoulder-length brown hair. On yesterday’s show, though, she may have straightened it or had a relaxer in it or something, because it was not kinky in the slightest—which kind of defeats the purpose of her saying “It’s my real hair!” Doesn’t it?

Anyway, during the show, her hairstylist, Oscar, blow-dried and curled her natural ‘do, while she chatted with three women who have some serious issues about their real hair. One of her guests was a biracial woman whose white mom didn’t want people to know she had a black father. This evil mom shaved her daughter’s hair off as a kid because she didn’t want a “nappy-headed baby.” Keep reading »
