“The Muppets don’t get laughs at other people’s expense. It’s part of what I really loved about the Muppets. They don’t even want to destroy their villains. They want to reform their villains.”

– Jason Segel talks to NPR’s “Fresh Air” about his new movie, “The Muppets,” and what’s so special about the talking puppets that have enchanted people of all ages. I haven’t seen the new flick yet, have you? What did you think? [NPR]

New Sesame Street Muppet Is Poor And Hungry

“Sesame Street” has got a hungry, impoverished new character—and it isn’t Oscar the Grouch or the Cookie Monster. “The Green Album” Croaks New Life Into Kermit Classics

What is it exactly about Kermit, Gonzo, Miss Piggy, and Fozzie Bear that makes me want to tap my toes? Two years ago, I heard whispers that an album of Muppet cover songs was happening. At the time, it was called The Muppets Remastered—it’s since been changed to The Green Album. And today it is finally out. My favorite song is definitely Andrew Bird’s cover of “It’s Not Easy Being Green.” But Weezer and Hayley WIlliams’ “The Rainbow Connection” is pretty sweet too, as is Matthew Nathanson’s “I Hope That Something Better Comes Along.” As Slate notes, however, there is one oversight—what happened to “She Makes Me Happy,” Kermit and Miss Piggy’s wedding song from “The Muppets Take Manhattan”? But hey, it’s still pretty thrilling.

The Muppets Take “The Green Lantern”

I’m having a hard time staying patient while waiting for the new Muppet movie, which won’t be in theaters until Thanksgiving. So I’m happy that Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and crew have taken to making parodies of the big movies of summer 2011. In this brand new one, the Muppets do “The Green Lantern.” I love the line, “If I didn’t know better, I’d say you were reciting some sort of important plot point.” [Huffington Post]

After the jump, more Muppet movie parodies. Keep reading »
