Patti Stanger To Set Herself Up On “The Millionaire Matchmaker”

For four seasons now, Patti Stanger has been helping multi-million dollar peens do their picking on her show, “The Millionaire Matchmaker.” It has long been one of our favorite guilty pleasures—despite Patti’s vendetta against curly hair and New York women (“They’re really stupid women in New York”)—both for the WTF moments dating moments and the nuggets of wisdom about love tucked into the crevices.

Season five, which begins airing on August 15, will bring us more of the same. With one key difference. This time Patti will also try to find love for herself, following her breakup last fall. Keep reading »

Patti Stanger Tried To Set Up Judith Regan And Sumner Redstone

On this season of “The Millionaire Matchmaker,” Patti Stanger has been in New York City, since apparently the single ladies here have been begging her for years to help. And in general, she seems to pretty much detest NY women. “L.A. is flaky and New York is snotty,” she explains. “‘Oh, excuse me, did you cure cancer yet, because I don’t think I can date you.’ A lot of those. And the girls were not as hot as I expected. There were a lot of girls who thought they were great, and I’m like, honey, you’re 25 pounds overweight … nobody wants to ride your ride.” [NY Post]

Patti has taken on some high-profile women this season, including DJ Sky Nellor. In next week’s episode, her client is Judith Regan, aka the publishing scion known for discovering authors like Wally Lamb and Douglas Coupland, and for almost publishing OJ Simpson’s oh-so-classy book, If I Did It. The New York season of “The Millionaire Matchmaker” has been a little rough to watch so far. Between Patti Stanger’s broken engagement, her emotional outbursts (mostly at the new intern), and her total lack of comprehension of the NYC dating scene, she’s been in a noticeably foul mood. However, her concept of the five non-negotiables, which she’s been pushing hard this season, is rather brilliant. She typically uses it to get douchebag dudes to stop being delusional about what kind of women will actually be willing to shack up with them, but I decided to give the exercise a whirl myself. Of course, I have that wish list that every single woman has, you know, the one with the hundreds of qualities that her dream guy will possess. I know, keep dreamin’, sister. Since we met Patti Stanger a mere two years ago, we’ve fallen in love with Bravo’s “The Millionaire Matchmaker.” We don’t always agree with the advice she doles out Tuesdays at 9 p.m., but her brutal honesty is irresistible — even if it requires her to say some harsh words about a girl’s hair, or give an overly confident dude a dose of reality. As Patti’s business has grown, so has her staff. Destin Pfaff started off as the office manager of the Millionaire’s Club (a job he found on Craigslist), but he’s moved on to bigger and better things. Patti Stanger Is Engaged. Here’s Why We’re So Happy For Her.

Patti Stanger, aka Bravo’s “Millionaire Matchmaker,” is finally engaged! After five years of dating her real-estate executive boyfriend, Andy Friedman, he finally proposed to her while on vacation in Maui for her 48th birthday. Surprisingly, the third generation matchmaker, with a self-proclaimed 99 percent success rate, met Friedman––click here to see a picture of him––through another matchmaker! Stanger and Friedman haven’t yet set the date, but in the meantime, Stanger will be rocking a four-carat diamond engagement ring. She told Us Weekly, “I have a rule, if you go out a year and he doesn’t propose, it goes up a carat a year.”

Heads might roll in Patti Stanger’s office today. It seems that she or her Millionaire’s Club staff did not vet all of the women who they set their rich clients up with for The Millionaire Matchmaker, and TMZ reports that Cidney, the women who was proposed to on Tuesday night’s episode, has modeled for Playboy. Another woman, Marcela, bears an uncanny resemblance to “Victoria,” an escort who charges $300 per hour. It suddenly makes sense why all the women on the show look like cheap hookers! Keep reading »

Romance On TV: A Marriage Proposal

Last night was the season finale of The Millionaire Matchmaker (sadness!), and, of course, it ended on a positive note. While having a romantic evening in Las Vegas, Paul, a Jewish, self-made millionaire from Azerbaijan, proposes to his shocked date, Cidney. Her response is, “I’ll consider it,” because she wants them to get to know each other better. Uh, we would hope so, considering this was their first real date. While Patti seems to be happy about this, rushing into things goes against advice she gave out on the above web-exclusive video. In it, Patti says that you need to date someone for four seasons, which would make it a little tougher for someone with seasonal affective disorder to find love.

Romance On TV: No Love For Short Millionaires

There are times when I struggle being a person of limited height, i.e., when I want a box of cereal on the top shelf at the grocery store, when I need to replace the battery in my smoke alarm, or when I want to kiss a guy who is 6’4” and I’m not wearing heels. It’s tough being a bit of a shortie, and I’m a girl, so I can only imagine what men must go through, especially when it comes to dating.

On last night’s Millionaire Matchmaker, Joseph, 5’8″, struggles to find a woman who would date someone shorter than herself. Well, Joseph is most likely not 5’8″. Guys lie about their height more than they lie about the size of a particular body part. In our opinion, the problem with Joseph is not that he is short, or even that he lies about his height, but that he sees himself with a tall, model-esque woman. We have nothing against short guys dating tall girls — hello, Tom and Katie, not to mention every guy who dates a model or a Williams’ sister — but the fact that he’s ruling out the possibility of dating a short woman is disturbing, mostly because I don’t want anyone ruling me out.
