The first teaser for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1″ debuted at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, further whetting fans’ appetites for the movie’s premiere later this year. Only a minute long and featuring only four words from Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen, the teaser focuses primarily on Plutarch Heavensbee (the late Philip Seymour Hoffman) and President Coin (Julianne Moore), the leader of District 13, discussing whether Katniss is ready to lead a revolution against the Capitol. Even if you’re not a fan of the “Hunger Games” books/movies, you’ve gotta admit the movies’ promotional work is tight. There’s a whole real-but-fake online magazine devoted to the Games — and the lifestyle maintained by those living in the Capitol — called Capitol Couture, and it’s actually, like, interesting. Capitol Couture also recently unveiled some promotional posters for the Games, featuring the unsung heroes of the different districts in Panem, all to get you hyped for the release of “Mockingjay.” Click through check them all out!

The Hunger Games book series and movies are hugely popular with a wide audience, but I was still surprised (and delighted!) to learn the legendary rock star and poet Patti Smith counts herself amongst its fans. In fact, Smith enjoys the series so much, she:
- Wears a mockingjay pin on her lapel and carries a mockingjay iPhone case.
- Has been known to hold her fingers up in the District 12 salute, which she says is “beautiful” and “brings tears” to her eyes, at concerts.
- She wrote a song for the “Catching Fire” soundtrack called “Capital Letter,” which, she explains, “[Is] like a letter to the Capitol, warning them about Katniss, but warning them in a proud way.” It includes the lyrics, “Rebellion has a heart / Breaking like the dawn / Bursting into song” and “She’s the silent one / In her silent boots / Racing through the flames.”
One question remains: Team Peeta or Team Gale? [Vanity Fair]
Despite successfully killing all their fellow tributes in “The Hunger Games,” Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are not done kicking ass and taking names. In “Catching Fire,” Katniss and Peeta are back in the arena for the Quarter Quell, when past winners of the Hunger Games compete against each other. In this final trailer for the film, which opens November 22, we finally get a glimpse at the arena, some of the amazing costumes, and those freaky Jabberjays. But why, why, why is there no Finnick?!
Those of us who’ve read Suzanne Collins’ book series know the characters we met at the beginning of The Hunger Games certainly aren’t the characters we get when we start Catching Fire. But how will they change in Francis Lawrence’s film adaptation? A recent magazine feature gives a few insights.
Sci Fi Now Magazine did a big feature on “Catching Fire,” which Tumblr user thepeacekeeper posted images from. We learn a bit about what to expect from Katniss, Peeta, and more in the upcoming film from their interviews. Read more on The Mary Sue…
