“Top Model” ["Pot Ledom"] All-Stars Go Viral

Last night’s episode of “Top Model” (or should I say “Pot Ledom”?) was “absolutely epic” to quote Amelia. The all-stars had to write, record, and make music videos to “go viral.” Best catch: they had to work the hook “Pot Ledom” (Top Model spelled backwards) into their songs. Another weird-as-s**t Tyra brainchild. Of course, Tyra  made an appearance in every video along with internet sensation Keenan Cahill (I somehow have no idea who he is). There were many deliciously cringe-worthy moments — like watching Alexandria Everett try to dance. Rapper The Game, who directed the videos, referred to her as the Tin Man. Okay, getting to the nugget of gold in the episode — because there is always a nugget in every “ANTM” episode. The Game, oddly enough, became obsessed with Allison Harvard, who wrote  an emotional and haunting song called “Underwater” about her deceased father. I’ll admit, I have been singing it all morning and annoying my co-workers. I just can’t stop! In judging panel, The Game called Allison (who obviously won best video) “the most weirdly beautiful person he’s ever met” and admitted to Tyra that he was attracted to her. It was just … wow. All these cycles and “Pot Ledom” never loses its appeal.

What did you think of Allison’s video? The other girls? Share your thoughts in the comments.

If The Game And 50 Cent Had A Hoedown

I couldn’t resist this funny dance/hip-hop mashup. I don’t know what this kind of dancing is called but I need to learn it NOW. Could it be the precursor to breakdancing? [BuzzFeed] Keep reading »

Mind Of Man: Pity The Pick-Up Artist

Some of you might have heard of or read Neil Strauss’ The Game, a fawning book about a silver tongued Casanova who goes by the mysterious code-name Mystery. Probably many more of you have seen ridiculously dressed beanpole Mystery tutor his homoerotic boy-cult on Vh1′s reality show “The Pick-Up Artist.” Is it just me or does he look like cross between a Las Vegas magician and a Dr. Seuss character? What you don’t know is if you know a guy who’s signed up for a class in picking up women (like New York’s “The Art of Charm”) or sloppily employed the social tools taught in these classes, written about in books, or demonstrated on television shows. Sweet Release: What’s In And Out The Week Of August 26th 2008

MUSIC

  • Solange Sol-AngeL and the Hadley St. Dreams
Beyonce’s baby sister, Solange has finally stepped out of her sister’s shadow and made a record of her own. A jazzy, poppy collection of laments, it just doesn’t have the bitch slap of her sister’s dance tracks. From the sounds of songs like “Tony”, Solange has been whining behind the scenes for a while, broken-hearted, waiting to breakout. But just like most moaning for attention, who wants to listen?
