Michelle Williams has been struggling to remain strong for daughter Matilda after Heath Ledger’s death in January. But now, she seems to have found some happiness with director Spike Jonze. “Michelle kissed Spike with a closed mouth on the corner of his lips,” says an eyewitness to who saw the couple leaving Jonze’s Manhattan apartment. “There was definitely a little bit of caressing going on. Before walking in the theater (and for the record, I bought my ticket four days in advance because it was obvious every showing the opening weekend was going to sell-out) I already knew The Dark Knight was going to be my favorite movie that I’ve seen in awhile. And I told everyone I knew. Which is why it’s a good thing it did turn out to be as amazing as I expected, because I HATE having to lie in order to save face. Unlike a lot of movies that are way overhyped and don’t live up to our expections, cough, Sex and the City, cough, The Dark Knight, and especially Heath Ledger, was everything I hoped and more. I left really psyched and also really pissed off that Heath was dead and wouldn’t be back for the third in the new series of darker Batman movies, while idiot trolls like Brooke Hogan still walk around flapping their gums. Sigh. Not fair. Anyway, if you haven’t seen the movie and don’t want a second spoiled, don’t read on.
Over on the Los Angeles Times blog All the Rage, Monica Corcoran complains that The Dark Knight is too long for its female fans. At 2 hours and 32 minutes in length, the movie is tad lengthy, and when Monica watched the movie on Sunday, seven women took bathroom breaks at the two hour mark. While movies like Titanic (3 hours, 17 minutes) and Sex and the City (2 hours, 22 minutes) are practically as long or longer than The Dark Knight, adrenaline makes us have to go to the bathroom, and there wasn’t much in SATC that would cause nervousness, unless you got all spastic about Big leaving her at the altar, which happened in the first hour anyway. As for how not to miss out on the action, we recommend forgoing beverages at the concession stand. [LA Times]

In The Dark Knight, Aaron Eckhart plays Harvey Dent. Now, I haven’t seen the movie yet, but Harvey seems to try to steal Rachel Dawes from Bruce Wayne/Batman, at least that’s what I think from watching the trailer. For me, it would be an easy choice, but I guess Batman does have a lot of baggage. Aaron Eckhart, on the other hand, has really, really nice hair and teeth, and the latter form a handsome smile, so he’s got that going for him, even if he lacks a rubber suit and a cool car. I heart Maggie Gyllenhaal. She’s badass, number one, for having the cajones to breast feed in public, inciting serious controversy among those who are more uptight. She is also super cool for her film choices — Sherrybaby was brilliant, and we can’t wait to see her show Katie Holmes how acting is done in The Dark Knight. But Maggie also has killer style — on the red carpet and when she’s just toting her baby Ramona around town. She gets some harsh feedback, but we admire her guts.
