17 GIFs Of Clair Huxtable Being Tired Of Your Crap

17 GIFs Of Clair Huxtable Being Tired Of Your Crap

Clair Huxtable. The name brings a smile to your lips by the time you even make it to the “X.” Phylicia Rashad played the TV mom that ruled most of our lives for close to a decade in “The Cosby Show.”

Even though her angelic looks made her endearing, Clair Huxtable’s no-nonsense attitude was enough to shape the tone of motherhood for Black moms through the 80s and 90s. In order to properly honor Clair’s stunning sass, we’ve compiled a list of her best GIFS that basically prove she’s not here for your shit. Read more on Hello Beautiful…

Baby Naomi!

Late-night reruns of “The Cosby Show” were my jam circa 2007, so naturally I am well-aware that Naomi Campbell appeared on the beloved sitcom… but were you? The stunning British supermodel, then 18 (that means pre-multiple assault charges, pre-blood diamonds, and even pre-babywoman), played Julia, a gorgeous (duh) classmate of Theo Huxtable. In this clip, she totally shuts down her study group’s interpretation of the patriarchy, and it is awesome. Watch it in its entirety (8 minutes spent watching an excerpt from “The Cosby Show” are 8 minutes well-spent, I always say) or skip ahead to 2:40 to see Naomi in all her glory. And if you love this crazy bitch as much as I do, check her out on “The Face” every Tuesday night at 9 EST on Oxygen! [Complex]

Steve Urkel On The Size Of His Junk And Almost Getting Cast On “The Cosby Show”

“That’s why the character was named Rudy — it was intended to be a boy. That’s my tragic auditioning story. We were all packed up and ready to go to New York and my agent had told my parents that they needed to start looking for places to live out there. Next thing you know, there was one more audition and that was supposed to be a formality at the network. And a little girl comes walking in, and I’m like—even at eight years old—’Who’s she?’ And they’re like, ‘She’s auditioning for Rudy, too.’ So I’m like, ‘Oh, it’s not as much of a formality as I thought.’ That was my first time walking into a room of 30 people staring at you going, ‘O.K., make me laugh.’ They were in such a hurry to get to New York and start filming that they came out and picked the kids one by one right in front of all of us. Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Tempest Bledsoe … The rest of us all went home crying. It was amazing. Obviously I’m grateful that things worked out the way they did; I think it put a little more money in my pocket. … Let’s get something straight: all of these rejections resulted in me making a s**tload of money elsewhere.”

— Let’s revisit 1995 for a second and let this piece of information blow my mind: Steve Urkel almost wasn’t Steve Urkel! Jaleel White told Oh No They Didn’t! Vanity Fair he was thisclose to playing Rudy Huxtable on “The Cosby Show,” until Bill Cosby cast a little girl for the role instead. It doesn’t sound like the “Family Matters” geek has any hard feelings.

After the jump, Jaleel White talks about the size of his junk. Keep reading »

Mother’s Day Style Stealer: Claire Huxtable Keeping It Real With Shoulder Pads

“The Cosby Show” matriarch Claire Huxtable was a woman of formidable strength, shoulder pads and style. Since we’re celebrating cool moms this week, in honor of Mother’s Day, we’d be remiss to leave Ms. Hux out: Her superior ’80s wear showed everyone–including hubby Cliff–who really was the boss. After the jump, our Claire-inspired look!

XXX “Crock Of Love” Spoofs VH1′s “Rock Of Love”

Will the adult movie spoofs ever end? We think not. Now that Porn Valley has spoofed “The Cosby Show,” Sarah Palin’s career, and Lindsay Lohan’s life, they’re tackling the realty TV dating trainwreck that is “Rock of Love” with the aptly titled “Crock of Love.” Starring Evan Stone, the porn star who appeared in that XXX-clip that “accidentally” aired during the Super Bowl, as Brüte Michaels, viewers will witness “rose ceremonies, bitchy girl fights, emotional testimonials and fame-hungry women baring their souls (among other things) as they try to scratch, claw and sleep their way into Brüte’s life.” Sounds about right. Release date is Aug. 4 — if you’re, uh, into that sort of thing. Keep reading »

Can Michelle Obama Inspire Another The Cosby Show?

It’s June now. The election was eight months ago. It’s kind of a random time for Robin Givhan at The Washington Post to pen a heady thinkpiece about What Michelle Obama, As A Black Woman, Means.

But whatever. I feel like I’m back at the Gender Studies department again!

Givhan, herself a black woman, has written a thoughtful analysis of the precedent Clair Huxtable on “The Cosby Show” set for Michelle Obama, who was and continues to be the foremost black woman in a starring role on a major mainstream TV show.

America’s never had a black president or a black First Lady. But Givhan asks us not to forget about the boob tube, either: the last time Clair Huxtable was on TV was an astonishing 17 years ago. Keep reading »

“The Cosby Show” Goes XXX

Our beloved Huxtables, who very rarely dealt with sex even though dad Cliff was a gynecologist, are being turned into a porn spoof called “Not The Cosby’s XXX,” which X-Play and Hustler Video started filming in December 2008. Hopefully, the actor who plays Cliff won’t make any references to Jello Pudding while he engages in a lot of hard-core action. And I’m guessing there’s going to be some incest going on. Back in the late ’80s, women envied Denise Huxtable for her unapologetic style, and men just wanted to date her because she was cute, but not overly sexy. Never did we expect to watch Huxtables getting down and dirty in Denise’s bedroom — a set for the spoof has been rigged to resemble Denise’s boudoir. Check out a SFW photo of the cast after the jump. Sweet Release: What’s In And Out The Week of November 11th 2008

MUSIC

  • Taylor Swift Fearless
A few 18-year-olds are releasing records today, but she’s already been on the Billboard charts. Taylor’s new country album is about love, so I guess the title, “Fearless,” is appropriate. But I’m more excited to see what she’s planning on doing with Def Leopard.
