“The Bachelorette” Recap: Desiree Is Not A “Fantasy Suite On The First Date” Type Of Girl

Recapped the first episode of "The Bachelorette"

As has become tradition, the star of this season of “The Bachelorette” is a beloved and completely palatable cast-off from the previous season of “The Bachelor.” Desire Hartsock’s heart “was broken” by “Bachelor” Sean Lowe after her brother gave him a hard time on her hometown date. But she’s back and her brother is hopefully locked up somewhere, unable to run his mouth and ruin Desiree’s latest search for the man of her dreams. As I recap this season of “The Bachelorette,” I’ll be updating a scoreboard of the 25 men vying for Desiree’s affection, giving them nicknames as I start to be able to tell them apart, because, like usual, they all look exactly the same. Ahh, white dudes. Spoilers abound after the jump! Keep reading »

Misee Harris

Pediatric dentist Dr. Misee Harris of Kentucky is petitioning to become the first ever Black “Bachelorette.” This prospect means a lot is surfacing for me regarding the harmful stereotypes reinforced by women of color on reality television. How would she be received? If she did get an opportunity to be on the show and chose a non-black man, what would the social implications of that be? But more than that, I feel disheartened because I know that this reality reflects how America feels about who deserves to be happy and who doesn’t. Keep reading »

6 Reasons We’re Excited For “Bachelor Pad 3″

After being booted off “The Bachelorette” on Monday night’s episode, Chris Bukowski is confirmed as the final “Bachelor Pad 3″ contestant. Get ready for a heaping helping of drama, hookups, and roses when “Bachelor Pad” returns for its third season on July 23.

This season’s contestants include the standard “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” rejects — some more entertaining than others — but there is a new twist this go-around, as there will also be five “superfans” (including twin sisters who count as one — yeah, I don’t get it either) competing for $250,000, with a possible side of romance. But let’s be honest, what we are really excited for is the crazy, which isBachelor Pad’s claim to fame. Even Chris proved in his final moments on Emily’s season that he had enough edge for the spin-off with his closing statement: “I’m 10 times the man of all those fucking dudes that are still there right now.” And what better way to see what we can expect from this group of rose rejects than to review their best and worst moments on TV? So check out this season’s standout contestants and their most dramatic moments from the “Bachelor” franchise now! Read more…

Watch Video

After watching Ben Flajnik flip his hair and stare off into the distance for an entire season, we are desperate to see something different on “The Bachelor.” We have been desperate for a good “Bachelor” since Charlie O’Connell. And that was like four seasons ago. And he wasn’t even that great. It’s about time that “The Bachelor” franchise diversify. Word on the street is that Lamar Hurd, a Portland-based sportscaster may be the first black “Bachelor.” Hot, humble, kind and looks amazing with his shirt off. This week, we’ve been bringing you easy peasy costumes inspired by your fave reality TV shows. But enough with the ladies—it’s time for a dude. Why not be Jeff Medolla, aka The Mask from Ashley Hebert‘s season of “The Bachelorette?” His costume is easy—like, seriously easy. At a minimum, you need a rose and a mask, or you can go all out as highlighted after the jump. Really, the hardest part of this costume is admitting that you watch “The Bachelorette.” But then again, anyone who spots your costume will have just outed themselves as a “Bachelor” watcher, too, so it’s all good.

Girl Talk: My Mom Wants Me To Date A Reality TV Star

One of my mother’s favorite pastimes, aside from texting me my daily horoscope, is playing Yenta for her 30-something single daughter. Only she doesn’t try to set me up with nice Jewish boys. No, she prefers to shop for my potential suitors on reality television.

It all started after the guy who I thought was my soulmate dumped me suddenly. I was devastated. Perhaps in an attempt to sooth my pain, my mother vowed to find me another guy, someone better.

Did Ames Brown Ghost Jackie Gordon After “Bachelor Pad”?

On Monday’s episode of “Bachelor Pad,” Ames Brown melted our frozen hearts when, rather than continue in the quest for $250K without his new paramour Jackie Gordon, he waved goodbye to the cast and hopped in the limo to head home alongside her. “I think Jackie and I are falling in love,” he said in voiceovers as they cuddled in the limo. “This is the happiest limo ride in ‘Bachelor‘ history. We won ‘Bachelor Pad.’” I was hoping, hoping, hoping that the two were still together—and that we each have a fairy godmother and that there’s a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. But alas, it was not to be. Jackie and Ames have already broken up.

In fact, it sounds like Ames might have ghosted Jackie. Keep reading »

Is Jennifer Love Hewitt Dating Ben From “The Bachelorette”?

It appears that Ben Flajnik, the floppy-haired wine maker who had his proposal turned down by Ashley Hebert on “The Bachelorette,” might have found love after all. And with another woman of note who has been notoriously unlucky in love—Jennifer Love Hewitt. According to Life & Style, Jennifer wrote to Ben via Twitter. “Omg! Ben f except [sic] my final rose !!! I love that ring. Neil lane u rock!! Happy for Ashley…. Gotta book a flight to Sonoma !!!:):)” she wrote. Later in the day, she typed, ““Aaaaaaahhhhhhh Ben f is following me!!!!!”

The point here isn’t even that Jennifer needs to learn the difference between the words ‘accept’ and ‘except’—it’s that it appears she may actually have made the trek to see Ben. Keep reading »

Ali Fedotowsky Explains Why She And Roberto Postponed Their Wedding

“We had a date set, and that date has now passed. The decision to postpone [the wedding] was very difficult. I definitely shed some tears. But I want to walk down the aisle—I don’t want to limp down the aisle. In my mind, Roberto is my husband. We live together; we do everything together; we plan for the future together; we fight just like a good old married couple. The only thing that’s not saying ‘I’m married’ is another ring on my finger and a piece of paper.”

Ali Fedotowsky, the “Bachelorette” of yesteryear, explains to People that she and Roberto Martinez had set a wedding date, but decided to postpone it until after Ali recovers from the surgery she had on her femur on July. Glad to hear that this wedding postponement isn’t about needing more time to figure out their relationship because that is usually a prelude to a breakup. And I like these two crazy kids together.
