DeAnna Pappas has had a long, strange ride on “The Bachelor.” First, she fell for Brad Womack, only for him to walk away without proposing to either woman at his final rose ceremony. Next, she came back as “The Bachelorette” and fell in love with quirky snowboarder Jesse Csincak, only to find out they weren’t compatible after all. Finally, she met the twin brother of a guy from Jillian Harris’ season of “The Bachelorette,” and fell in love—this time for real. And while she’s in the midst of planning her wedding, she had the surreal experience of sitting back on the couch and watching Brad get a second shot at “Bachelor”-dom.
On April 9th and 10th, DeAnna will be one of the guests of honor at the Reality Rocks Expo, a two-day conference celebrating the phenomenon of reality TV. To get ready, she sat down with The Frisky to talk about her upcoming wedding, what reality TV auditions are really like, and, of course, whether Brad and Emily will make it. Keep reading »
We were just waiting for Emily Maynard to jump from “Bachelor” Brad Womack’s loveboat. His “I’m a perfect guy now” facade was crumbling by the second during the finale. What was her first hint? When he got angry at her for questioning that his desire to be a father to her daughter was enough? How dare she! Or was it when Brad’s brother warned her “not to poke the bear”? If there’s a bear within capable of being provoked, you best believe we’re not sticking around to make its acquaintance. We’re glad Emily decided very wisely not to walk down the aisle — at least for now. After the jump, some things a guy could say that would make us hightail it in the opposite direction. “I don’t know, she’s kind of cool, she’s spunky and she’s got a lot personality. It’s also the first time we had an actual professional woman as a bachelorette. She’s not a party planner, she’s a dentist! That’s a good step for us. I think it’s a cool good lesson for young ladies out there to see an accomplished woman still struggling to put the personal side of her life together. That’s something a lot of women can relate to. She will be a different kind of bachelorette!”
– Mike Fleiss, creater of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette,” on why Ashley Hebert was picked to be the next “Bachelorette.” Sigh. So many issues with this quote. For starters, Ashley is a dental student. Good for her, but technically she’s not yet a professional. Secondly, since when party-planning not an actual profession? I think the many successful, hard-working party planners out there — both male and female — would have a problem with that statement. [EW] Keep reading »
Last night, after the disappointing revelation that Brad and Emily are probably not going to live happily ever after, speculation instantly began on who would be the next “Bachelorette.” Would ABC go with the obvious choice, Chantal O’Brien, the gorgeous brunette who was Brad’s runner-up? That theory were quickly shot down during “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” On the show, it was announced that Ashley Hebert, the sweet dental student Brad sent home from Cape Town, would be the new “Bachelorette.” [CNN] Keep reading »
Last night’s season finale of “The Bachelor” was an incredible letdown. I felt pretty sure a few weeks back, when Brad Womack and Emily Maynard landed on their own private island and he broke into hives while trying to tell her how much he cared about her, that Emily would be his choice in the end. As expected, Brad let Chantal go in a burst of tears and then got down on one knee and slipped a big, glittering diamond on Emily’s finger. “I’ve wanted to tell you I’ve loved you for so long,” he said, before telling her she’s “the one.” Big duh.
But then came the “After the Final Rose” ceremony. Keep reading »
File this love match under “So Wrong, It’s Right.” Vienna Girardi, who won Jake Pavelka‘s heart on “The Bachelor” and then lost him in one of the most explosive televised breakups we’ve ever seen on “After the Final Rose,” has a new man! Krazy Kasey Kahl, who vied for Ali Fedowsky‘s love on “The Bachelorette”! Now, the “Bachelor”/”Bachelorette” pool of contestants is about as incestuous as you can get, so Vienna and Kasey are hardly the first random couple to come out of the hit ABC show, but they are, by far, the most ridiculous. Vienna, for starters, is crazy, though we did totally take her side in the breakup with Jake. But Kasey is truly one of the more embarassingly entertaining contestants ever. Remember how he wouldn’t stop saying he wanted to “guard and protect” Ali’s heart? Remember how it inspired the world’s lamest tattoo on his forearm, and Ali promptly sent him packing? Remember how he warbled a song he dedicated to Ali and Ali was all crinnnnnge? Well, Vienna ain’t cringing at Kasey’s ridiculous tattoo or tone deaf singing, calling Kasey a “wonderful man” on Twitter. Aww, I think it’s sweet these truly crazy kids found each other.
