“Why go on a show where you’ve got only a limited chance of winning and you’ve got a 90-odd percent chance of being rejected publicly by a woman? Unless they were paying me like 100k to do so, I would never do it.”
—Former “Bachelor” Matt Grant on why he would never, ever do “The Bachelorette.” Pot, met kettle? [RadarOnline.com] Keep reading »
It’s a big week on the boob tube—that is, if your retinas aren’t totally burned out from watching the Oscars. This week, we’ve got the series premieres of “High Society” (Wednesday, 9:30 p.m., The CW), Tinsley Mortimer’s reality show, and the awesome new dating show “First Love, Second Chance” (Wednesday, 10 p.m., TV Land). Where did “The Bachelor” Jake Pavelka take Vienna Giarardi out for their first date in the world where the rest of us live, otherwise known as “reality”? Find out — and watch the video! [Also, nice mock turtleneck, douche. -- Editor Amelia] [TMZ] Keep reading »
Jake Pavelka comes off as pretty much the most genuine guy on the planet. But one woman, who’s keeping her name under wraps, says that he’s a liar, liar, pants on fire. She claims that she and Jake were together when he left to film “The Bachelor.” She says that, while Jake claims his life’s passion is flying planes, he really wants to be an actor and was hoping to forward his career by doing the show. The day after Jake returned from filming, she says he called her and said he still loved her. He also said that the women on the show, including Vienna Girardi, meant nothing to him and that he was forced by the producers to propose. Radar has the first interview with this woman. “When you get down on one knee and propose marriage to someone, I take that very seriously,” she says. “The fact that he did that exclusively because he was instructed to do that, it disappoints me so much.” Keep reading »
Every Wednesday, the tabloids bring tragedy, intrigue, and lust into our lives. It’s kind of like modern-day soap operas, only instead of fictional story lines or made-up characters, they’ve cast celebrities you already know and love and pretend that it’s all 100 percent true. And since reality television has taken over for scripted drama, but real life is kinda boring, writers are forced to cook up dynamic story lines, and the line between what’s real and what’s fake is increasingly blurry. I’m not sure if gifting you with the most important stories is helping or hindering in our inevitable demise, but we are all just part of the system. So enjoy the tabs while you can. After the jump, this week’s big stories.

I actually don’t mean that. That headline wrote itself, I swear! I had no choice. [New York City, 3/1/10] Keep reading »
You’ve definitely already heard by now that Jake Pavelka proposed to Vienna Girardi on “The Bachelor” last night. Which wasn’t really surprising, but was certainly disappointing for those under the illusion that reality TV shows promising true love have any intention of delivering such. I suspect this will be drawn out for at least another three specials, leading to Jake ending up with Ali Fedotowsky, who’ll inevitably pick the wrong guy on “The Bachelorette.” [Reality TV World]
Vienna can now join a relatively long line of reality-show-winning villains who managed to mean their way to the top, much to viewers’ dismay. Keep reading »
Sweet mother of Vienna Sausages, tonight’s finally “The Bachelor” finale and “After the Final Rose” special! Who will win Jake Pavelka’s eternal affection and possibly an engagement ring? Will it be Sugar (Almost-Virginal Disney Princess Tenley) or Spice (Bank Account Draining Vienna)? Oh c’mon, I think we all know it will be a HUGE shocker if Vienna doesn’t win, so personally, I’m eagerly anticipating HOUR THREE of this insanity fest, when Jake and his two final rose candidates will tell all to Chris Harrison. Are Jake and his pick still together? Is Vienna as big a skank as the tabloids have made her out to be? Will Tenley do an interpretive dance to express her feelings? And will Ali make a surprise appearance? Find out, starting tonight at 8 pm EST — I’m making chili for the event. Having gas just seems sort of appropriate. Keep reading »
Over the weekend, Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney tied the knot—we’ll see it unfold on television on March 8—becoming the first “Bachelor” couple to actually make it down the aisle, news that we can only applaud since Melissa Rycroft recently got hitched as well. And tonight, Jake Pavleka will make his final decision and propose to either nudey-pic Vienna or Disney Princess Tenley. Rumor has it that Vienna will be his final choice, though meanwhile the whole world is expressing a strong preference for Tenley. But before Jake flies off into the sunset with either of these ladies, we thought we’d take a look back and catch you up on where some of the “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” contestants past have ended up.

“The Bachelor…On the Wings of Love…The Women Tell All” is a very long title, and it was a very long show. We saw, in two hours, how past contestants get drunk on Bachelor “reunion cruises,” how they give back to charity, and—as host Chris Harrison kept saying—how exactly the “biggest TV scandal of 2010″ went down, i.e., how contestant Rozlyn Papa got busy with a nameless producer (we’re talking making out, probably with tongue) before both were kicked off the show.
So, yes, the women told all, Rozlyn denied everything, and who knows how many production assistants burnt their fingers lighting a hundred, or a thousand tea lights. Much to our surprise, however, the show yielded some heartfelt, real-world dating tips that could help all of us find love. Read more … Keep reading »
