I pride myself on my vast knowledge of celebrities, particularly their love lives. Ever since my grandmother handed me a tattered issue of The National Enquirer as a young lass and affectionately called it “The Trash,” celebrity gossip has been my guilty pleasure. So, I’m always more than a little surprised when I find out two stars dated and no one bothered to tell me. Thandie Newton Channels Theda Bara As Cleopatra

Thandie Newton emulated silent film actress Theda Bara in 1917′s “Cleopatra” to commemorate the launch of 2010 Virgin Media Shorts, a competition for undiscovered film talent. The series of photographs was shot by celebrity portraitist Lorenzo Agius and styled by Suzie Harman who also worked with Thandie on “RocknRolla.” In this photo, Thandie is wearing a dress by Jenny Packman, a headdress by Cosprop, and jewelry by Solange Azagury Partridge. The Daily Squeeze: Black-Footed Ferrets, Sex Ed Videos, Sports Fans, And Yigal Azroul Condoms

  • Two black-footed ferrets at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo gave birth to “kits” (baby ferrets). The really interesting part of this story is that the kits fathers are both dead — one died in 1999 and the other in 2000. Since the species is endangered, the female ferrets were artificially inseminated with frozen semen from the dead males. [LiveScience]
