Before Michelle Obama appeared in a Thakoon dress at the Democratic National Convention, the designer had no idea she would be wearing one of his creations. “I saw her on TV and I couldn’t even look, I was so embarrassed from being excited,” Thakoon Panichgul said. Michelle Obama’s DNC Style FOUND!

Not that style and politics should mix, and we certainly don’t think a candidate or a candidate’s spouse should be criticized for lacking style, but Catherine and I have both been bowled over by Michelle Obama’s nose for fashion over the course of the campaign. And never more so as when we both came into the office after the final night of the DNC and said nearly in unison (after we discussed the actual substance of the night’s big speeches, of course), “Who was Michelle wearing?” Now we have the answer! According to Fashion Week Daily, Obama was wearing a Thakoon dress adorned with three Erickson Beamon broaches. Unfortunately, it’s not clear whether Obama did the accessorizing herself or whether they came with the dress as is, but regardless, this just backs up our belief that printed dresses and costume brooches are totally going to be huge for Fall.
