Bey, we’re kind of disappointed. We tend to think you “run the world,” so when we saw this pic with Terry Richardson we were a bit dismayed. In case you didn’t know, Bey, Richardson is a noted model fondler and generally creepy dude, who thinks nothing of getting a bit too up close and personal with the girls he shoots. In fact, several models have spoken out against his unprofessional and lecherous behavior.
So, Bey, what gives? You’re pretty much the biggest star in the world, so I’m sure you wield enough power to tell Harper’s Bazaar – for whom Terry shot you — that you’d prefer to work with another photographer. Ah well, there’s always next time. [Fashionista]
No woman in this day and age is exempt from the overwhelming pressure to be whippet thin. Most popular depictions of females and femininity are marked by protruding clavicles, razor hipbones, and legs like string beans. High fashion models of today are the worst perpetrators with many models bringing skeletons to mind. It’s no wonder that the appearance of these girls leads many people to wonder if they ever eat at all! Epicurean pleasures — my personal favorite — are lost on them. How depressing is that?
And yet a trend of sorts has arisen recently in editorial photoshoot: models enjoying food. Read on for Terry Richardson‘s photos of high fashion models stuffing their faces, followed by a couple candids of models eating food in — gasp! — real situations.
Remember when, shortly after his split from Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt appeared on the cover of W magazine, playing family man in a photoshoot with rumored lover Angelina Jolie? And Jennifer was all, “Homie is missing a sensitivity chip?” Well, many thought Brad’s sensitively was lacking when he implied to Parade earlier this month that his life with Jen wasn’t an “interesting” one. He quickly went into spin mode, saying his words were taken out of context, but Parade insiders have said that no such twisting of words occurred and that his quote accurately reflects how he feels — that his marriage to Jennifer was a dull one. So when this mini photoshoot featuring Jen and her new boyfriend Justin Theroux appeared on photographer Terry Richardson’s blog yesterday, I couldn’t help but wonder if this wasn’t just a portrait of two kids in love — but also a bit of an “eff you” to Brad and his mouthing off. Jen looks pretty damn happy while Justin … well, he hardly looks bored. I can’t help it — I like these two together! [Terry's Diary]
Lady Gaga maintains that “Born This Way,” complete with the high blonde ponytail styling, was not a rip-off of Madonna’s “Express Yourself.” But now it looks like Gaga is taking another page from Madge’s fame playbook. Gaga is releasing her own photo book, which will be called Lady Gaga, and will contain 350 color and black-and-white photos of her, snapped by Terry Richardson. Richardson apparently followed her for 10 months while she was on tour and recording her new album to create these images. [Huffington Post]
But this book of course, reminds me a whole lot of Madonna’s coffee table book for perverts, Sex. Keep reading »
At first glance, this racy pic looks like a lingerie ad or at least a fashion spread from a high style magazine. But it’s for neither of those things. In fact, this photo doesn’t exactly have a lot to do with the company—at least not in our opinion. Find out what it’s for after the jump. [WWD] Keep reading »
Oh, that James Franco. Always up to something new and wacky! This time the performance artist/actor/all-around hottie is in drag on the cover of Candy magazine. The lovely photo was taken by Terry Richardson. What a “trans-formation,” indeed. He’s a little Angelica Houston, a little Jackie Beat. [The Daily What] Keep reading »
French Vogue‘s 90th anniversary issue continues to shock. The editorials inside include this sure-to-inspire-debate series of plus-size model Crystal Renn gorging on squid, slathering herself in spaghetti, and putting away a plate of chicken. To up the controversy, the photographer is Terry Richardson. Personally, I like the photographs — I think they’re beautiful and sort of funny — and after having watched and read multiple interviews with Renn, I find it highly unlikely she’d agree to do it if she wasn’t on board with it. Check out more after the jump and speak your mind in the comments. Keep reading »
