Life Dream Status: Taylor Swift’s Cat Blends Right In With Her Outfit

I’ll know I have arrived in life when 1) I find a cat that allows me to casually carry him/her down the street on my arm without scratching me and 2) that cat perfectly matches my sartorial choices. Who needs a cute purse when you can accessorize with a critter that will love you back? Clearly, Taylor already has my wildest cat lady dream all figured out, and is pulling off the ever-elusive “plaid for sophisticated people” vibe on top of it. I want to be her even more at this moment than when she had access to the Kennedy compound. [Image via AKM-GSI]

Taylor Swift Admits She And Lena Dunham Like To Cosplay As Oregon Trail Characters

Lena Dunham and Taylor Swift

I woke up this morning to a frantic slew of text messages from one of my best girlfriends – the Taylor Swift to my Lena Dunham – telling me to “WAKE UP, BABE. SHIT’S GOING DOWN.” She informed me that TSwift’s Rolling Stone interview was finally available online, and embarrassingly, I sprung out of bed like shit was, indeed, going down. Any article about Taylor is bound to be full of quotes that make you tilt your head and squint in confusion, but since she’s recently become a huge style icon, I knew I could expect a few strange Taylorisms about fashion. I wasn’t disappointed.

Along with some spoilers for her upcoming album, some much-coveted info about her dating life, some discussion of her newfound feminism, and further proof that all she really cares about is her cats, we got this fascinating little glimpse into her private life. The interviewer describes Taylor’s New York apartment, eventually landing on this gem. Read more on The Gloss…

Taylor Swift Covers Rolling Stone … In A Pair Of Wet Jeans?! Cringe!

Taylor Swift Rolling Stone Cover

Seriously, I am having visceral secondhand discomfort just looking at Taylor wearing a skintight pair of dripping wet jeans on the cover of Rolling Stone. Aside from the obvious — like splinters, vagina waxes, kidney stones, etc. — I can imagine few things more uncomfortable than traipsing around in soaking wet denim. I guess this is why I’m not famous. See a few more shots from the mag after the jump! [Rolling Stone] Keep reading »

The Most Memorable Moments From The 2014 MTV VMAs

Hey! So you probably noticed The Frisky was down all day. We seem to be up and running — FOR NOW!!!! — so I can finally bring you this hilariously late recap of last night’s MTV VMAs. I know, you forgot it happened already.

Without the promise of Miley Cyrus’s flapjacks twerking against Robin Thicke’s sleazy groin, last night’s MTV Video Music Awards had a lot to live up to. So how did it go? Well, there was a lot less tongue, thank god, much better twerking (thanks Nicki!), the Kardashians at their worst, and so, so, so much Beyonce. Here are the moments not to be missed from last night’s MTV VMAs.

Nicki Minaj had a lightening fast costume change in between performing her single “Anaconda” and her collab with Ariana Grande and Jessie J, “Bang Bang,” to open the show — but apparently she wasn’t zipped into her second dress correctly because she had to clutch the front together to prevent a wardrobe malfunction. Taylor Swift Just Realized She’s Totally A Feminist

“As a teenager, I didn’t understand that saying you’re a feminist is just saying that you hope women and men will have equal rights and equal opportunities. What it seemed to me, the way it was phrased in culture, society, was that you hate men. And, now, I think a lot of girls have had a feminist awakening because they understand what the word means. For so long it’s been made to seem like something where you’d picket against the opposite sex, whereas it’s not about that at all. … Becoming friends with Lena — without her preaching to me, but just seeing why she believes what she believes, why she says what she says, why she stands for what she stands for — has made me realize that I’ve been taking a feminist stance without actually saying so.”

Hell yeah, Taylor Swift! It’s so lovely to see a young, female celeb, initially confused about what it means to be a feminist thanks to bullshit stereotypes, realize she’s been one all along. We always knew it, but we’re glad to see Taylor finally embrace the label. Welcome to the club, Tay! [The Guardian]

Now You Can Buy Taylor Swift-Inspired Keds With Cats On Them

Keds

I haven’t owned a pair of Keds since about 5th grade, but this new Taylor Swift-inspired design might finally convince me to get some. I still haven’t decided how I feel about her new single, but I’m a fan of these Sneaky Cat Keds. They’ll be available in October, just like the her new “1989″ album, and feature — you guessed it — sneaky little cats peeking over the edge of the shoe. The heel has Taylor’s birthday, 12-13-89, scrawled on the back in metallic lettering. I’m not sure how I feel about walking around with someone else’s birthday on my feet, but I like that the shoes have just enough of a cutesy twist to stand out without being overwhelming, and I adore any and all cat-related footwear. Taylor already has a pretty massive Keds collection, which isn’t surprising since she seems to work them into just about everything she wears, but this pair was specially designed to celebrate her album launch. I’m still pondering whether to get some, but if you want your own Swifty kitty shoes, you can sign up for the pre-order list here.
