Get it? Taylor Momsen has always been a badass. Even as a wide-eyed, tow-headed kid — clearly this little girl is supposed to represent her younger self — she wore leather and played with fire. This is not a tot you’d want to run into in a dark alley or engage in a knife fight with. And don’t even think about giving her a Miley Cyrus CD for Christmas. Keep reading »
Welcome to Would You Rather, a game in which we concoct hypothetical style dilemmas and ask you to choose which option’s worse.
So, if you haven’t already heard, Miss Taylor Momsen did a very badass rebellious teenager thing this week by firing her personal stylist, which is either a really bratty or bold thing to do. What do you think, if you had the option to have a style guru like Rachel Zoe dress you, would you use her? Which is better—to make your own style or pretend you do by having someone else do it for you? Keep reading »
Here is the video for the second single, “Miss Nothing,” from Taylor Momsen
‘s band, The Pretty Reckless
. As far as I can tell, there really is no plot here beyond watching Momsen writhe around in a scene that references the Last Supper. And it looks like some guys from Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band might have shown up at the end? Essentially, it’s a bunch of dudes watching a teenager roll around in a mini dress while they have a food fight. Momsen’s version of the classic rap video? Keep reading »
Cat’s out of the bag—”Gossip Girl” star and angsty teen Taylor “Bad Attitude” Momsen will be the face of Lourdes Ciccone’s Material Girl line for Macy’s that she’s designing with mommy Madonna. Think little Lola had a say in hiring her? Our instincts say yes as Lourdes has been pushing her juniors collection towards an edgier style, and Momsen seems like the type of style icon Lola would admire.
Of course—and it’s so obvious, do we even have to say it?—the critics will inevitably rage against Momsen for presenting herself through yet another avenue as a bad role model for teens. She’s got a bitchy attitude, she smokes, she acts way too old and reckless for a 16-year-old, etc., etc. What do you think about Taylor Momsen modeling for Material Girl? Would you have rather seen Lourdes do it herself? [E! Online] Keep reading »
“I’m not looking to be Miley f**king Cyrus. I don’t care about the fame. I do it because I love music. I like making records and if people like them, then we’ll go along for the ride. … I’m not dissing Miley personally. However, I do think the Disney bubblegum s**t that the world is living right now is pathetic. I thought we passed that repression. I don’t know Miley, but musically we’re different. To compare us because of our age is silly.”
– Taylor Momsen really wants the music industry to take her band, The Pretty Reckless, seriously and not lump her in the same category as the pop stars currently topping the charts just because of her age. Is that why she’s talking like a 50-year-old truck driver? [Bloginity] Keep reading »
Taylor Momsen‘s band, The Pretty Reckless, released its first EP online today. Up until this point, I was pretty content to hate on Momsen for her constant snarling and black-lidded eye-rolling about the pains of fame. She’s always struck me as a snotty tween caught in her rebellious stage, and I worried that The Pretty Reckless was just an excuse for the “Gossip Girl” star to wear ripped tights all the time. Well, this EP has proved me at least partially wrong. This band is actually talented and has created four quality songs. Momsen can sing! She has a surprisingly big voice for a 16-year-old waif; although, she’s still trying too hard to sell us on her punkness by alluding to drug use and underage sex in her lyrics. Overall, we are seeing quite a few Jenny Humphrey connections in Momsen’s tunes. After the jump, we sample the songs and wax philosophic on the Jenny parallels. Keep reading »
There I was, minding my own business on Monday night, when I noticed “Jenny Humphrey” from “Gossip Girl” became a trending topic on Twitter, i.e., something everyone is tweeting about. Jenny Humphrey, of course, is the precocious 16-year-old budding fashion designer from Brooklyn, played by Taylor Momsen. With her older brother, Dan, young Jenny attends a fancy Upper East Side prep school; she just wants to be accepted by the rich kids, who dismiss her as a social climber. I clicked on the trending topic and saw hundreds of tweets saying things like, “Jenny Humphrey is a ho!” and “I hate Jenny Humphrey, she’s such a skank!”
Clearly, this involved further investigation. Keep reading »
“I have my favorite black knife with me all the time. It’s a switchblade. It relaxes me to flick it.”
– Taylor Momsen, everyone’s favorite badass lil’ sis, tells a U.K. newspaper that she forgot she had “a couple of knives” still in her purse when she walked through airport security recently. Did she forget to take off her brass knuckles too? [Huffington Post] Keep reading »
