Yes, of course you can get your skin tattooed, and even your nails — but what about your boots? Thanks to Frye’s new flagship store in downtown New York, yes, even your boots can get their own particular graphic vision fulfilled. Frye boots, shoes and sandals are some of our favorite footwear — because they have such a classic shape and style, and their leather goods last forever. Since they’re such great investment pieces, it’s nice to know that Frye is now offering its customers opportunity to customize via boot tattoos and hot stamping (which is basically like branding them like a cow). In fact, if you bring in a pair of your Frye’s to their Soho location, you can get your boots hot stamped for free! How’s that for a boot-i-ful deal? [Frye] Keep reading »

Sure, Miley Cyrus‘ new tattoo might be two very short lines, but the equal sign on her ring finger has big meaning. “ALL LOVE is equal,” she Tweeted, explaining that the tattoo is in support of gay marriage. When one of her followers expressed disapproval, she wrote, “Where does it say in the bible to judge others? Oh right. It doesn’t. GOD is the only judge honey. ‘GOD is love.’” Go Miley! Way to stick up for an important belief. We think you one-upped the straight celebs out there who have pledged not to get married until gay couples can too. Keep reading »
Amber Rose got a new tattoo last week. On the side of her finger, she had the word “Cam” inked in cursive. What does that mean? Well, for the past year, she has been dating rapper Wiz Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Thomaz. Apparently, Amber calls him “Cam” for short, while he calls her “Amb.” Amber’s new tattoo will match the one Wiz got tattooed on the side of his thumb earlier this year.
Now, I’m a little skeptical of getting someone’s name or initials tattooed on you. Keep reading »
It’s kind of hard to shock me. I mean, the video of the woman bathing on the subway got barely an eyebrow raise. But finding out that Reese Witherspoon has a tattoo — on her stomach! — made me gasp. Photographers captured a few different glimpses of the ink over the holiday weekend, as Reese and her family spent some time at the beach. I could maybe see Little Miss Goodie-Two-Shoes (and I say that affectionately) having a second shot of tequila and indulging her inner “bad girl” by getting a butterfly on her ankle or something, but a stomach tattoo? No offense to those of you who have ink in that area, but it is a rather daring spot, considering how susceptible to, uh, stretching it is. I mean, Reese has hinted she wants more kids — what will her tattoo look like at seven months pregnant? Check out a photo of the tattoo, as well as my theories about what it is exactly, after the jump… Keep reading »
Two years ago, I got my fifth tattoo, a large red and black crown on the back of my neck. I went home to visit my parents and was stunned by the lack of commentary. Eventually, I just had to ask.
“Mom, did you see my new tattoo?”
“Yes. It’s … big.” Clearly, she’d made an uneasy peace with the idea that her daughter loves ink. Keep reading »
Jennifer Aniston debuted her first tattoo this weekend, cursive script on the side of her foot spelling out “Norman.” Norman was Aniston’s dog who died in May at the age of 15. I think this is such a lovely tribute. I have long thought that eventually the only other ink I would get (besides the vaguely regrettable Chinese characters on my back) would be my dog Lucca’s name. I love her and want her with me always, just as Norman is now always walking with Jen. Okay, now I am tearing up. RIP Norman! Is a tattoo of a pet’s name something you would ever get? This Dutch woman loves her Facebook friends so much that she decided to get color photos of all 152 of them tattooed on her arm. What an innovative idea! Now she will have her entire social network with her wherever she goes. But on the other hand, one of them may unfriend her. Or change their profile photo. Or get old. Or decide Facebook is stupid. What happens then? [Flavorwire]
Update: You’ll be relieved to know that no one is really crazy enough to tattoo 152 Facebook friends on her arm. This video was a big, fat hoax. The ink you see is called a “transfer tattoo.” It washes off in a couple of days. [The Daily What] Keep reading »
“The Hangover 2” opens this weekend, and apparently there is someone besides Mel Gibson who will not be eagerly waiting in line with a bucket of popcorn to get a good seat. In the movie, Ed Helms wakes up in a bathtub and discovers that he has a poorly done tribal tattoo on his face. The joke, of course, is that Mike Tyson—who makes a cameo in the original movie and its sequel—has a much better version of the same tattoo. However, Tyson’s tattoo artist, S. Victor Whitmill, is not amused. In fact, he is suing Warner Brothers for copyright infringement. Keep reading »
