In Search Of The Perfect Tank Top

Sienna Miller

Sienna Miller was spotted yesterday “out and about” (as they say) in New York City. Let me ask you a question: Is the tank top she’s sporting not the most perfect one you’ve ever laid eyes on? Call me a fashion freak, but it shows just the right amount of skin, hangs perfectly on her, the armholes aren’t cutting off armpit circulation but they also aren’t revealing any side-boobage. I adore this tank top. I also have to assume it’s the work of some hyper-pricey designer—which is great, if you can afford to pay 100 plus dollars for it. I cannot, so I’ve rounded up a few tanks that inspire equal hysteric blathering from my corner. Check ‘em out…

Crave: Truly Madly Deeply Pocket Tank

Truly Madly Deeply Pocket Tank

Who doesn’t love a good pocket? It’s especially satisfying to find them in unexpected places like on the pointed corner of this summery Urban Outfitters tank top. A racerback and asymmetrical hem add to the edginess of this shirt, which would go great with some black skinny jeans, alone as a beach cover-up, or a dress for those with pockets full of confidence. Style On The Street: Transitioning Into Fall

girl wearing hat and skinny jeans

How long has it been since it was cool enough for you to wear pants? Far too long, in our opinion. This hat-wearing gal, with her tank and skinny jeans, makes us yearn for sunny days that aren’t at all humid, when pants can be worn without sticking uncomfortably to the legs. Autumn rocks. Poll: Does The Term “Wife Beater Tank-Top” Offend You?

Garter Tank

A couple weeks ago we did a post on this awesome, but expensive tank-top/garter combo from Kiki De Montparnasse—because the tank was the kind with the ribbing, I used what I thought was the most common term for the tank itself. A wife beater. Last night, I got an email from a reader which read:

There is absolutely no reason for a website for ladies to be using “wife beater” as fun slang! Ladies in the know also call them boy beaters—I don’t appreciate that either but take note of the language you use and accept. It influences our culture!
