SXSW is officially over. Teardrop. I seriously can’t put into words how much fun it was. My yearly trip to SXSW is important to me. Why? Duh. Because music is my soul. And even more importantly, because I think of it as my annual chance to practice being spontaneous (not my strong suit), to go with the flow, and reap the rewards. So that’s what I did. This morning I’m trying to recover from a musicover. I took in more live shows than my body could handle yesterday, was little bit overwhelmed by too much wonderfulness. Lots of coffee, a Tylenol , and maybe some dude watching should do the trick.
I knew yesterday was going to be the best day so far when we sat next to the band Metric at brunch. Because that’s just how it is at SXSW. You may be waiting in line for a port-o-potty with your favorite band or sipping coffee at the table next to them. Okay, that was just the build up to the good news … I got passes to the exclusive Spin Magazine party. Hell yeah!

As I sit here in the lobby updating you about the crunk goings-on at SXSW, there is an impromptu concert going on in the lobby of my hotel. Yeah … the lobby. Because that’s how they roll here in Austin. I haven’t even finished my morning coffee yet and I’m listening to a dope cover of Blu Cantrell’s “Hit ‘Em Up Style” Also, I should mention that I’ve seen at least 14 guys that have made me drool in the last 10 minutes. In case you’ve been living in an abandoned cave for the last 10 years and you haven’t heard of the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, TX, then let me paint a picture for you. Downtown Austin gets crunk while thousands of hot indie rock and film dudes and dudettes from all over the world swarm the streets of Austin like a pack of sexy killer bees. There is film, music, drinking, networking (aka hooking up) and general debauchery. There are shows every hour on the hour at every possible venue—even the local Pita Pit and Laundromat have live shows—from 4 p.m. until 2 a.m. for five days straight. Are you getting the picture yet?
