Music critics and aficionados agree, Neil Diamond is a gem. The rock solid sexagenarian songwriter has just released his highly anticipated album entitled Home Before Dark. Produced by the legendary Rick Rubin and backed by Superwolf’s guitar superhero, Matt Sweeney, the talented troubadour has composed more thoughtful, sweet songs that are guaranteed to make his groupies swoon. This album is the perfect Mother’s Day gift. Especially if her name is Caroline.
Madonna’s latest record seriously sounds as good as it is: Hard Candy. With her 11th album, my girl crush Madonna still manages to make me feel like a virgin, touched by her irresistable beat for the very first time. The sugary pop tracks, like the single “4 Minutes”, are tasty grooves, combining the dance floor dynamic of her best hits with an R&B bump and grind. Always on top, Her Madgesty enlisted an orgy of the most lickable men in music to do it with her: Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, Timbaland, Danja, and Justin Timberlake.
Madonna’s not the only taste of female awesomeness out today: check out releases from Santogold, Portishead, Robyn, Carly Simon, and Lil’ Mama. [Pause And Play: CD Front]
The only thing I want to grab today is Jemaine from Flight of the Conchords (Bret’s bodacious, too). In fact, this duo is probably why girls are born with two hands — FYI, that’s not scientific or anything. As lady luck would have it, they’ve finally released all their funky, sexy songs from their HBO Show as an album, out today! Flight of the Conchords will serenade you with classics like “The Most Beautiful Girl (In the Room)”, or my personal fav, “Business Time”. Mmm hmm. Tonight, I’ll be clutching my pictures of Jemaine and Bret from the Bowie episode at my private listening party. [Amazon.com]
