So I know people don’t really do the whole “team” thing anymore (as in Team Jolie/Team Aniston), but since we haven’t really come up with a comparably catchy fan-identifying term yet: Just to be clear, I am 100% Team Holmes. Obviously. But as crazy and scary and scary and scary and scary as I find Tom Cruise to be, I’m still not sure how I feel about the latest TomKat divorce rumor. See, “sources” say that Katie Holmes is considering changing Suri’s middle name to “Cruise” and her last name to “Holmes.” Not only that — “sources” also say that Katie hates the name “Suri” and has been calling her daughter “Scout” (after the To Kill a Mockingbird character, of course).

Are you sick of the Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes divorce scandal yet? I am nowhere near close to being bored of the topic. Oh, if they were any other Hollywood couple, I would be snoring by now, but given their close ties to the upper echelons of the Church of Scientology (specifically Tom’s BFF status with leader David Miscavige, who was best man at the couple’s wedding), this split has the potential to blow the lid off a lot of highly shady shit.
Anyway, yesterday was Tom’s 50th birthday and instead of spending it with his soon-to-be-ex wife, the actor flew to LA to be with his older children (adopted when he and Nicole Kidman were married) instead. Katie, meanwhile, was all smiles when she took little Suri out for ice cream in, ACK, my neighborhood yesterday evening. They were accompanied by friends and Katie looks happier in these photos than she has in any other paparazzi shots in months. Personally, I think she is a total badass. When Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise’s divorce was announced last Friday basically no one was surprised (other than apparently, Tom Cruise). We’ve all been expecting the break up since the Great Oprah Couch Jumping Incident but somehow they just kept going. After six long years together, what finally sent Katie to her lawyer? According to TMZ, it’s her daughter’s safety.
Tom is famously a Scientology lover and Katie isn’t. She would deal with Scientology but she wasn’t signing up for every $8,000 seminar/procedure/sacrament it was offering. But, now that Suri Cruise is 6-years-old, her dad was ready to send her the Scientology boat camp Sea Organization. Kids as young as five can be sent to the military like Sea Org. I’m guessing she can’t bring her child-heels or get carried everywhere, which is something Katie would not approve of.

When I first learned about Katie Holmes divorcing Tom Cruise, I wasn’t particularly upset or curious about what I was going to eventually learn about Scientology should Katie ever talk. Instead, the only thought on my mind was what the Tumblr “Suri’s Burn Book” would have to say about the news. As you can see from above, I was not disappointed. But the best part of Suri’s Burn Book? After watching Tom Cruise jump around on Oprah’s sofa like a complete dumbass, I think we all (well, some of us) knew his overly excessive enthusiasm for “falling in love” with Katie Holmes was a total hoax. While watching the video again of Cruise violently shaking a nervously laughing Oprah, it was obvious to many that Cruise’s firm and forceful grip on Holmes would not take hold for long.
