Inspiration Board: Kelly Rowland’s Polished & Floral Look

We love the idea of shorts suits and wearing heels with shorts. So you know this polished and floral look Kelly Rowland wore while watching “X-Factor” auditions in Liverpool had our names written all over it. Kelly’s large floral print shorts are Stella McCartney, but we found a less expensive option. Check it out… Keep reading »

The Only Beach Bag Necessary

We used to schlep our stuff to the beach in a regular canvas tote bag that never really had adequate space. Then we came across Fashionable Notes’ Beach Bag, which has made beach-going a more practical and easy experience. The Beach Bag is large enough to hold a couple of towels or large sheets, a magazine and a book, a water bottle, and a sandwich and snacks with room left over. “Beach Bag” is stylishly printed on the side of the bag with water-based ink. The inside is coated with a vinyl-like product that’s easy to clean, and there are rubber feet at the bottom so the bag doesn’t actually rest in the sand. Now, we have to stop ourselves from going to the beach just to show off our Beach Bag.

Inspiration Board: Retro Anjelica Huston

I didn’t become aware of Anjelica Huston’s fabulousness until she starred in the 1990 film “The Witches” and “The Addams Family” in 1991. But this model and actress has been mesmerizing audiences with her beauty and acting skills since the ’70s. I love looking at old photos of celebrities, and fell for this easy look Huston is wearing in the photo above. This fuss-free, casual look inspired me to find a slightly dressier option with silkier fabrics. Find out how to get it, after the jump! Keep reading »

Alice + Olivia’s Modern Take On Barbie

Okay, so Alice + Olivia haven’t designed a new Barbie doll, but the styling of this model in its resort lookbook really reminds me of a classic Barbie. Alice + Olivia has swapped the black and white stripe swimsuit for a black and white stripe romper. The blond hair has been replaced by a big, yellow floppy hat. But both the model and the doll still know the power of great sunglasses and earrings. See the rest of the Alice + Olivia resort collection here. Keep reading »

Do Not Want: Linda Farrow + Jeremy Scott’s Hands “Sunglasses”

Linda Farrow is known for taking eyewear to … different places. Now she has teamed up with American designer Jeremy Scott to create the most ridiculous and pointless pair of (non) sunglasses we’ve ever seen. Why opt for shades with UV protectant lenses when you can just cover half your face with a giant pair of stranger hands? And good luck seeing anything at all through the Hooker Red manicure. They may look like a street vendor special, but oh no–these frames range from $260-$355. We Do Not Want, but if you do, go to Farrow’s online boutique and get them before Amber Rose buys them all. Stinky Summer Feet No More

Ladies, let’s admit that stinky feet can be a problem in the summer, especially since most of us haven’t mastered looking chic while wearing socks with sandals. (Never, ever.) But there is a way to keep your feet and shoes odor-free this summer. Silver Linings are thin shoe inserts infused with Agion Antimicrobial, a silver-based technology that prevents odor-causing bacterial and fungal growth, like yeast and mold. Yum! Silver Linings will keep your feet and shoes stink-free all summer long.

How Not To Pack For A Trip

Last week I went down to San Diego for a few days. In theory, it should have been a very simple trip to pack for: throw a couple pairs of cutoffs and a swimsuit in a duffel bag and you’re good to go. In reality, I jammed a rucksack full of roughly 200 pounds of all-weather clothing and forgot my toothbrush. That’s right: I am The Worst Packer In The World, and today I’d like to share a few of my bad habits, because if you do exactly the opposite of me, chances are you’ll end up with a perfectly packed suitcase… Keep reading »

Wear What You Eat: Lemonade

The only thing I like better than shopping (and I like shopping A LOT) is eating. And if I could somehow combine those two things, well, that would be magical. And that’s why I’ve created this new feature, “Wear what you eat,” wherein I create outfits and shopping guides themed around some of my favorite summer treats. First up, cool and delicious lemonade. Take a sip and check out our summer picks. Keep reading »

Clutch This And Don’t Let Go

Everyone needs a simple leather clutch in their arsenal. This American Apparel medium-sized pouch can fit most of your essentials, plus a small paperback. It comes in so many neutral and punchy colors, like rose bowl and buttercup, that you’ll have a difficult time choosing just one. But at $50, you can afford to pick two or three.

HUDSON: Denim You Can Tolerate In The Summer

Even if you’re a die-hard jeans girl 10 months out of the year, when summer arrives, heavy denim is probably the last thing you reach for. But HUDSON jeans’ spring/summer 2011 collection is denim you can actually tolerate in the heat. Inspired by the culture of Dogtown and Venice, CA in the ’70s, the collection is laid-back, but also has a European edge. The jeans are made of lightweight denim that has been softened and come in faded red, pink, yellow hues. But even if colored denim isn’t your thing, HUDSON jeans are also available in light and medium wash blue and white–in styles ranging from skinny to shorts to flare to cropped. HUDSON continues to play with the DIY elements, like repair stitches, frayed edges, exposed button flies, and distressed holes, I loved last year. But the two jean styles that grabbed my attention were a pair of red cropped jeans and pair of white “N.1 AXL” skinny jeans with leather lacing along the back of the calf, from the HUDSON by Georgia-May Jagger collaboration. See more pics after the jump. [HUDSON] Keep reading »
