Model Commits Suicide After Internet Trolls Attack

Claudia Boerner photo

Bullying: it’s not just for kids. Claudia Boerner, 32, British model from a competitive cooking TV show, committed suicide recently, apparently because she being viciously attacked by Internet trolls. Trolls trashed Claudia’s appearance, ridiculed her “fake boobs,” and accused her of being an attention-seeking show-off on “The Perfect Dinner,” a cooking competition that airs in Germany.  A message on show’s website said they were shocked by her death and said Claudia Boerner “struck us as a friendly, open-minded young woman.”

It just goes to show all of us that no matter how someone presents herself or himself to the world, there is more going on underneath. You never know how a person may take your hurtful words. And, yes, writing nasty comments about people on the Internet — even absolute strangers — is bullying.  [Daily Mail UK]

“Mad? Ya think?! If he came back right now I’d have to kill him, for what he did to us. I’d f**king kill him. I’d f**k him, and then I’d kill him.”

Courtney Love kind of went off when a Vanity Fair writer asked her if she was angry at husband Kurt Cobain for committing suicide. Honestly, Courtney is probably going to get a lot of crap for this quote, but I don’t blame her for being pissed. The issues that drive people to take their own life — depression, illness, etc. — are complicated and hard to grasp and for that reason, I really loathe it when people write suicide off as simply “selfish.” However, the impact suicide has on the surviving family members and loved ones is also complicated and hard to grasp and for that reason I hope Courtney is cut a break for her comments.

In the article, Love also discusses her complicated (is anything not complicated with this woman?) relationship with estranged daughter Frances Bean. Check out more, after the jump… Keep reading »

Danielle Staub Says Reality TV Made Her Suicidal

Disclaimer: You may want to flog me for what I’m about to say, but I must say it. As a person who has suffered a serious bout of depression, I have the utmost empathy for anyone who is suicidal. But I just have to question Danielle Staub‘s motivation for doing an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” in which she says that she was suicidal after appearing on “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.” It seems a little like she is trying to capitalize on Russell Armstrong’s suicide because, in true form, she jumped at the opportunity to force herself into the spotlight. Now, if I’m wrong about Staub’s motivations, then I’m sorry. But why would she share her suicidal thoughts with her kids? And why would she tell us about it? Why, if she thinks the pressures of reality television contributed to her depression, would she continue to be part of that world? (She is currently a cast member on Vh1′s “Famous Food”). Something about her confession doesn’t sit right with me. This woman needs to sit down with a professional, not “ET.” [ONTD]

8 Things You Should Know About Blake Fielder-Civil, Amy Winehouse’s Ex-Husband

When we heard the very sad news that Amy Winehouse had been found dead in her apartment on Saturday, we were a little curious how Blake Fielder-Civil—Winehouse’s ex-husband who she had called the love of her life—would respond. Apparently, he has been in jail since June, serving two years for stealing to get money to buy drugs. Now, Fielder-Civil is on suicide watch at Leeds’ Armley Jail. The incarcerated drug addict reportedly collapsed sobbing when he was informed by prison guards that Winehouse had died. He told the UK’s The Sun newspaper, “I’m beyond inconsolable … my tears won’t dry.” He continued, “I will never ever again feel the love I felt for her. Everybody who knew me and knew Amy knew the depth of our love. I can’t believe she’s dead.”

The ill-fated couple was only married for two years but were involved for much longer; one of their early breakups inspired her album Back To Black. So, who is this man, Blake Fielder-Civil, whom Amy Winehouse called the love of her life? Keep reading »

Jonathan Rhys Meyers Hospitalized After Suicide Attempt

Jonathan Rhys Meyers of “The Tudors” was reportedly hospitalized this week after trying to commit suicide by overdosing on pills, People and The Sun are reporting. Meyers reportedly spent the night at the hospital following the suicide scare and was discharged the next day. This is extremely distressing news, given how he’s such a talented actor. I hope he gets the help he needs. Love ya, Jonathan! [People, The Sun UK] Keep reading »

“Teen Mom”‘s Amber Portwood Attempted Suicide

“Teen Mom” was always real … but it just got real. Emergency personnel responded to Amber Portwood‘s house in Anderson, Indiana, on Tuesday morning after a call from Gary Shirley’s mother claimed the 21-year-old mother was depressed and threatening to kill herself. According to Star magazine, police arrived to find Portwood lying face-up on a couch with a rope “loosely knotted around her neck.” She was apparently fading in and out of consciousness and needed an oxygen mask to help stabilize her before she was taken to a local hospital. Amber Portwood’s life, as chronicled on MTV and in the tabs, has always been a hot mess — from her boy drama to her arrest for assaulting Gary Shirley, the father of her kid — and I’m sorry to see how it’s affecting her. Mental illness is not something that can be ignored in hopes that it just goes away. I hope Amber Portwood and MTV take this suicide attempt seriously and get her the help she needs.
