When it comes to accessories, I generally live by the more-is-more philosophy — except when it comes to one particular area. I’ve never had my ears pierced, and frankly, I don’t think I ever want to. Weird, right? You’re probably wondering, how do you go 32 years forward into womanhood, become a style editor and not have a close personal encounter with the piercer’s needle? Like many, I was asked by my mom as a little girl if I wanted to get pierced at the local K-Mart, and at eight or nine — whatever age I was at the time — it just didn’t seem like a good idea. Even then, I was too neurotic to believe that having a stranger poke holes in my ears would be a very smart. No thank you, I will do without.
