Here’s what happens far, far, far too often when I’m working on a Style Stealer. I see a celeb in an outfit I think is awesome and I think to myself, Oh cool, this will be easy to steal — I’ve seen [INSERT EXTREMELY TRENDY KEY ITEM] everywhere! I embark upon my quest, searching for each item that makes up the outfit, only to discover that the key item I saw everywhere literally just days ago is somehow gone. Sold out, suddenly nowhere to be found, maybe never existed, whatever. It’s like I dreamt up the ubiquitousness of this item. But because I am totally ADD/OCD, I end up hyper-focusing on replicating that outfit, even though it’s no longer nearly as simple, and suddenly, three hours later, I have a Style Stealer that is cute, but probably better described as inspired by the original celeb’s look, rather than a remotely-close replica. I both feel like a failure (for spending such a ridiculous amount of time on something so silly) and victorious (for completing a task I set out to accomplish, dammit).
Such is the case with this Olivia Palermo look. That sleeveless white blazer? Everywhere last week, NOWHERE today. In my exhaustive research, however, I have learned that this item is also called a “gilet” or “waistcoat,” so it wasn’t a total waste of my time. Anyway, I ended up going with a regular ol’ white blazer with black details, layed over a black jumpsuit with a similar lacy neckline, and a jeweled clutch that is just as fancy as Olivia’s, but looks nothing like it. Ugh, whatever. Click on for the shopping details!

Get it? Because Jamie Chung used to be on “The Real World”! What? You didn’t know that? You mean I am the only person on Earth whose brain is essentially an Encyclopedia of Bunim-Murray Productions? Yes, Jamie Chung was one of seven strangers picked to live in a house on “The Real World: San Diego” back in 2004. She was normal and quiet and didn’t get into any trouble which is A) probably why you don’t remember her and B) why she’s actually a successful actress now (“The Hangover” series, “Once Upon A Time”) instead of appearing on her 10th season of “The Challenge.” AND she can afford to dress like a star now too. That bright blue leather jacket is nearly $600, while her purse is nearly $400. Too rich for my real world butt. But I found a bunch of similar and much more affordable items so that we can all dress like an ex-reality show star who’s gone on to bigger and better things. Keep reading »
Real talk: I actually think Sarah Michelle Gellar’s outfit is executed a little sloppy. The leggings look a little stretched out and I think I saw some stains when I was zoomed in on the original photo. But who cares? I’m not judging! I am still wearing my Thanksgiving Day fat pants. What matters is that the elements of this outfit are super cute — especially that knit animal-print skirt! — and easily replicated on a budget. Find out how to get it, after the jump! Keep reading »
Yes, Olivia Munn, YES. This is how you style a striped, summer-y midi dress for cooler temps. I am loving how her stacked heel boots and bad ass green leather jacket give the look an edgy, tough vibe. Like, during summer with flip-flops, this dress is all, Oh hey I’m easy breezy, just chillin’ on the lanai with a glass of pinot grigio, but during winter, it’s all, Get to steppin’, I’ve got a hot toddy to drink, it’s cold out. Or something. Anyway, steal Olivia’s style, after the jump!

Something about New York City style that I’ve yet to fully embrace: people here wear a lot of black, especially in the colder months. Like, black from head to toe. Nothing chicer! I’ve heard it said. I actually love black and would wear it more often, if not for the fact that my dog Lucca is a big time shedder. And there’s nothing dog hair loves more than a black swath of fabric, lemme tell you. But for those of you not being held hostage by the fur, fur, fur everywhere, Kim Kardashian’s oh-so-NYC ensemble is the perfect example of how to rock black-on-black-on-black. And oh my god, I am loving her full-length coat. So glam. Get the details on how to steal her style after the jump! Keep reading »
The world can be broken down into three types of people:
- Those who do air travel in their pajamas. These people usually bring their own bed pillow and occasionally even tote a stuffed animal and wear slippers.
- Those who fly dressed to the nines, tight jeans, stiletto boots and all. Think the Kardashians at their most Kardashian and then some.
- And those who dress casual and comfy but still cute.
I think it’s pretty clear which type Emma Stone is. Get this particular casual, comfy and cute look for yourself, after the jump! Keep reading »
Lily Allen is back with a new song, a questionable music video, and her signature funky/feminine style. I’m pretty in love with this dusty pink coat, and pairing it with leopard print pumps is a fun, Lily-esque choice that totally works. Want to steal her look for yourself? Get all the pieces (for around $100 or less!) after the jump… Keep reading »
Random, unimportant, little-known factoid about me: on my list of not-that-good movies I can always watch is “Because I Said So,” starring Mandy Moore and Diane Keaton. It’s a rom-com about a mom who meddles in her single daughter’s love life. I’ve had this inexplicable crush on Mandy Moore for years, perhaps because I admire the topsy turvy sincerity of her music career (I mean, she released an album of retro covers after achieving pop stardom) and think she has pretty hair and I like the fact that she seemingly doesn’t really care about being famous. Also, she’s really stylish, but in a normal way, like there’s always something sligggghtly awkward about her, even though she has a general ease to her approach. Anyway, I really love this outfit. It’s one I would think to put together myself but my favorite street style stars are the people who make me look at my closet in a new way, and see combinations that didn’t occur to me before. Perhaps this outfit will do the same for you, or maybe you’ll be inclined to purchase the look-a-like pieces above, in which case, get the deets after the jump! Keep reading »
A significant amount of my brain space is being taken up with obsessing over winter coats. I know, really intellectual stuff. I am currently creating a puddle of drool on my laptop keyboard over Miranda Kerr’s gorgeous Rag & Bone coat. This bitch is $1,395, however, which is waaaaaaay too rich for my blood. Luckily, there’s a ton of similar jackets for way less currently available online. Here are nine grey and black options I love. Keep reading »
It is colder than a witch’s tit in the northeast today. Winter coats have come out of the closet! Tight season is in effect! Static cling abounds! One person who’s not letting the frigid temps get her down is Miranda Kerr, who rocked a summer-y light wash denim skirt with sheer stockings in Manhattan today. Work this look for yourself with the pieces above! Deets after the jump… Keep reading »
