Hungarian Pole Dancer Sets World Record To Promote Gender Equality

I think this is real? And not a joke, like the Hungarian version of The Onion or something? According to a Hungarian website, a porn star-turned-exotic dancer named Alma Pirner (aka Ginger Jones) got together with a bunch of other strippers and set a world record for pole dancing by working the brass pole for eight hours straight. Now that’s some inner-thigh strength! Pirner told reporters she was trying to prove a point about workplace equality, not just show off her pole riding skills: “When asked why this did this, Pirner said that it was to prove that women are just as physically and mentally capable as men, and deserve to be treated equally in the workplace.” I am not sure how that works in the real world, but I will respect the words of anyone who can hang on to a pole by their ankles for that long. Sarah Burge, 50, owns a swingers’ sex party club and is known as the “Human Barbie” for her $600,000-worth of plastic surgery treatments. She’s also the mother of three daughters. Her eldest, Charlotte, 23, dances burlesque; her middle daughter, Hannah, 16, started getting Botox injections last year; and her 7-year-old, Poppy, wears lip gloss, high heels and makeup, and loves pole dancing.

Looks like Karl Lagerfeld has a new favorite lady in Emily DiDonato. The two are working on a sassy little project for fancy swimwear line Eres in which Emily starts out dressed in full Chanel and ends up looking adorable in nothing more than an Eres swimsuit. Half naked models are nothing new, but her stripping process is: Every time you click the mouse, she loses a piece of clothing. A Former Exotic Dancer Inspires Military Wives Through Burlesque

Years ago, I interviewed Lily Burana, a former exotic dancer who wrote a book about her “farewell tour” dancing at strip clubs across the country. Earlier this year, I interviewed her again, about her latest book, one in which she chronicles the difficulties she experienced when her Army officer husband was deployed to Iraq. Now, the New York Times has a profile of Burana and her Operation Bombshell, which offers burlesque dancing classes to military wives. (Make sure to check out the accompanying audio slide show for a peek behind the scenes.) These aren’t classes in how to strip for your man; as Burana explains: “This is more Ava Gardner than Britney.” Instead, Army wives learn the fine art of peeling off their gloves, the “showgirl bounce,” and how to work a boa.
