How To Write Like Stephenie Meyer

The website “I Write Like” analyzes a block of text and tells you which famous author the writing is reminiscent of. Depending on what article I put in, my writing style is either similar to Jane Austen (um, boring?) or Stephen King (supermarket trash?). Writing like Stephenie Meyer, the woman behind the hugely popular Twilight series, is even easier. Clearly. [via BuzzFeed] Keep reading »

Behold, The “Twilight” Engagement Ring

As a matter of fact, there is something tackier than wearing a Disney Princess wedding gown: a “Twilight” engagement ring.

Author Stephenie Meyer has teamed up with Infinite Jewelry Co. to co-design a trinket based on the engagement ring that vampire Edward Cullen gives Bella Swan in the latest “Eclipse” movie. The rings are available in 14K yellow or white gold with an oval face set with 13 glittery gems. Middle school girls can get the $35 knockoff ring and we big girls can have the real diamond version — called “Bella’s Genuine Engagement Ring” — for a cool $1,979.

Like the other Twilight Saga books, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner has mystery, danger, and romance, but, even more importantly, it opens up the world of the newborn vampires. Keep reading »

Do “Twilight” Fans Get Flak Because They’re (Mostly) Girls?

Another day, another Twilight headline. Today, Prospect.org has an interesting article in which writer Sady Doyle (who defended Megan Fox on The Frisky) points out how books in Stephenie Meyer‘s Twilight series are a smash hit (Breaking Dawn, for example, sold 1.3 million copies on its first day), but they get a hell of a lot of flak from … well, everybody. Coming To Theaters: Stephenie Meyer’s “The Host”

Did you know that, every now and then, Twilight author Stephenie Meyer writes about non-vampires? Last year, she released “The Host,” which was billed as her first adult novel, though it apparently has about the same set of readers. And while it’s not about vamps, there is still some parasitic feasting on pretty girls, this time by an alien species that is romantically overwhelmed by said girls’ capacity for emotion. The book didn’t get nearly as much play as anything “Twilight”-related, but that all may change now that “The Host” is being turned into a movie. Keep reading »
