All You Need Is Love And Some Coffee

Starbucks, purveyors of fine reasons to take an afternoon break at work, got together musicians from 156 countries and had them all sing The Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love.” Across the universe, they all played together, same time, different places, to raise awareness about the AIDS crisis. As if the reason isn’t moving enough, this video of all the participants really drives the fab four’s point home. Here’s wishing you a decade full of love. Happy New Year! Keep reading »

Christian Siriano To Unveil Starbucks Mystery

The Cut reported recently that “Project Runway” designer Christian Siriano will be unveiling his special “holiday collaboration” with Starbucks today. Despite this exciting gossip, news sources are not allowed to tell us anything until November 17th. This is tragic and very, very, very many fashion light years away. We can only guess that it will be a cookie with his face on it or, like, coffee cozies he’s designed that say “Don’t Make A Hot Mess!” to urge you not to spill. We hope it’s new uniforms — sigh, they are so drab and paper bag brown. Grab a free Starbucks pastry today while you ponder this mega news and give us your best guess. Starbucks May Start Selling Booze, Too

Because Starbucks doesn’t already take enough of my money, the coffee chain announced it may start selling beer and wine in addition to coffee. Starbucks is currently serving alcohol during the evenings at one of its coffee shops in Seattle and if that pilot program is successful, the company could open others. However, their stores which sell alcohol will “look very different from a typical Starbucks,” USA Today reports, probably because there’ll be obnoxious drunk people in them.

The beers and wines, which will likely be local to the Pacific Northwest, will cost $4 to $7 a pop. Hmm, wonder if Starbucks will still make your order your booze in those stupid tall, grande or venti sizes? [USA Today] Keep reading »

Starbucks Wants You To Buy Their Coffee And Enjoy A Same Sex Kiss

Ah, April — the month of fools, taxes and same sex kisses? Well, yes. Apparently, Starbucks, because it’s one of the most “gay-friendly, corporate spots in the world,” will be hosting Same Sex Kiss Day on April 15th this year. Exploiting the LGBT community, Starbucks is encouraging everyone to come out and buy a cup of coffee from them and uh, kiss someone of the same sex, because, like, LGBT people don’t yet have the same rights to file their federal taxes jointly and everyone knows a coffee and a kiss will solve that! Don’t have someone of the same sex to make-out with? No Problem! There’s a Facebook page, of course, where you can “find someone cute in your town.” And no, you don’t get a free cup of coffee is your participate. How would that help Starbucks, I mean, the LGBT community?! Keep reading »

Sarah Palin Misquotes Madeleine Albright & Starbucks Coffee Cup At The Same Time!

This weekend, Sarah Palin made another boo-boo. At a rally in California, the Vice-Presidential candidate made the case for supporting the Republican ticket and then quoted Madeleine Albright, with the assistance of Starbucks. “I’m reading on my Starbucks mocha cup, okay?” she said. “The quote of the day… It was Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State and UN ambassador. … Now she said it, I didn’t. She said, ‘There’s a place in Hell reserved for women who don’t support other women.’” Well, actually, Albright (whom the crowd booed, FYI) said, “There’s a place in Hell reserved for women who don’t help other women.” Now, depending on your point of view, these two quotes are either basically the same or not the same at all, but either way, Albright wasn’t stoked on Palin using her quote for political gain.

Starbucks Unveils Its New Topless Logo

What do you think of Starbucks new logo? Some people are not pleased with the mermaid lady’s newly-exposed nipples and have started calling the chain “Slutbucks”. All we care about is whether the slutty new mermaid doesn’t burn her coffee like the old one did. [StarTribune.com] Keep reading »
