I have seen “Spring Breakers,” let’s see … three times now? Or is it four? It is probably my favorite movie of the last, oh, six months. Should the warm weather continue and I actually deign to actually leave my house for once and dress up for Halloween, I will be baring skin as one of Alien’s little chickies. To really take this costume up a notch, shout “get on your knees, bitch!” in everyone’s face and find willing participants to deep throat your plastic squirt gun. Oh yeah, and memorize all the lyrics to Britney Spears’ “Everytime.” So necessary. Deets for how to get this bad ass costume, after the jump! Keep reading »
James Franco is not the most popular cat around The Frisky offices. We even coined a saying for when someone sends you too many links about Franco’s latest annoying antics, catching you off guard and ruining your day: “I’ve been Franco-ed.” (Everyone knows not to Franco Julie when she has a migraine. Not a good combo.) Being Franco-ed is the worst.

No. There is nothing better than the idea of Riff Raff, the rapper/corn row aficionado who was clearly the inspiration for James Franco’s “Spring Breakers” character Alien, playing the part of Jamie Franko on upcoming episodes of “One Life To Live.” Mr. Raff, rightfully peeved that Franco pretty much stole his whole existence as inspiration for Alien, said in the past that “the storyline ain’t mine but no one on Earth can deny that James Franco’s image and appearance characteristics are Riff Raff all day.” He even mounted a Twitter campaign — #WhyJamesFrancoWhy — calling him out on the image theft. Spoiler alert! This post contains spoilers about the movie “Spring Breakers.”
When I heard that Selena Gomez had been cast in a Harmony Korine movie, my brain kind of exploded. Korine is known for his dark, sexualized films (like “Kids,” which made Chloe Sevigny a star), while Gomez is a Disneyfied, baby-faced princess who until recently was dating Justin Bieber. The trailer and promo pics for “Spring Breakers” showed Gomez and her castmates – “High School Musical” alum Vanessa Hudgens, “Pretty Little Liars” star Ashley Benson, and the director’s wife Rachel Korine – wearing bikinis and little else as they drank, smoked, got arrested, and did drugs. Was this movie going to be Gomez’s “Can’t Be Tamed“/”I’m a Slave 4 U” moment?
Not quite. Keep reading »
Since it was a movie — “Where the Boys Are” — that changed Spring break into what it is today, it’s only fitting that we look at some of the best (and the worst) Spring break flings from flicks. And while that film was explicit for 1960, it’s a far cry from the bare-chested and drug-filled “Spring Breakers“ that’s out Friday. But both have one of the key elements to the season’s beach party: sex. Spring break is eponymous with spring flings, and we aren’t talking sweet Summer love. More like quick, week-long lust — not exactly a recipe for relationship success. So grab your bikini and a brewski for a look back at the most memorable onscreen sand-filled hookups! Read more…
