Fairies Aren’t So Sweet On “True Blood”

T-minus 19 days until the season premiere of “True Blood.” Luckily, HBO isn’t going to leave us fiending for that long. They’ve now released the first six minutes of the premiere episode (an extra three minutes on top of what we posted last week!). What to expect: fairies, forbidden glowing fruit, Sookie’s grandfather, and an evil fairy plot. Sookie’s best line to her fairy godmother: “If your job is to look after me, can I just say … you suck.” Keep reading »

Sneak Peek: Alice + Olivia + MAC

These days, everyone has a collaboration. So now it’s Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet Eisner’s turn to get into the collab game, as she’s decided to bring her aesthetics to the world of cosmetics. Stacey teamed up with MAC to create a full line of beauty products including nail polish, lip gloss, and pigments. If you’re a fan of bright colors and unafraid to show your love for bold hues, then this is a collaboration you’ll love. Purples, pinks, turquoise, and yellows dominate the color scheme, promising that you’ll most certainly be noticed while wearing Alice + Olivia designs. Sold? Prices range from $12-$19.50 and the collection will be available in stores later this summer on July 8. [WWD] Keep reading »

Forever 21 Lookbook Styling: Confusing, Terrifying

Big, mainstream brands like J.Crew and Target have done an exceptional job turning their images around with the help of artful styling. In the case of the former, Jenna Lyons and a team of hip stylists create the kind of frothy tableaus you see here and lookbooks to compete with any high-fashion brand, and the latter gets the job done thanks to collaborations with “it” designers like Rodarte. Forever 21 has evolved into a more sophisticated brand as well, attracting plenty of over-21s who want to buy into their sweet, oh-so-sweetly priced trendy goods. We love ‘em! But when it comes to the professional styling game, it looks like this season at least, they have failed. No really. FAIL. [Nitrolicious]

Sneak Peek: Lindsay Lohans’s 6126 Collection Lookbook

Remember how we told you that La Lohan was expanding her 6126 leggings line and adding more merch to the lineup? Pics of the fall 2010 lookbook have surfaced, and, well, it is what is, right? We’ve got thigh-high boots (naturally), plenty of black mini-skirts, and one extremely odd-looking, asymmetrical, metallic leather vest layered over a sateen collar and trousers, after the jump! Thoughts, anyone? Bueller? Keep reading »

Sneak Peek: Holy Summer Shopping At Topshop

The nails, the maxi-dresses, those floral platform shoes, oh my! Nothing gets us in the mood to shop like a behind-the-scenes-at-a-photo-shoot video. Drool. [Topshop] Keep reading »

Sneak Peek: The J.Crew Fall Preview Was Gorgeous, Obvi

Even though spring weather is just peeping out from the layers of yesterday’s ice and we’re just barely defrosting, the fashion world works in mysterious ways, kids, and editors are busy checking out upcoming fall collections. Last night we scoped out J.Crew‘s deliciously styled fall line and at least we can say we have something to look forward to when it gets chilly out again. The sequins trend continues with drool-worthy bedazzled pants and skirts, and spots of denim, leather, wool, tweed, yummy jewelry and hats are all on the menu. Another look (and the ultra sharp men’s collection), after the jump. Keep reading »

Sneak Peek: Liberty Of London For Target

When we heard that iconic Brit luxury label Liberty of London was set to bring its prints-mad aesthetic to Target we had to try and keep ourselves from stalking the website in anticipation. Well, imagine the freak-out we had when photos of the fashion and home line started appearing on various websites (OMFG, there’s a bike!). Major giddiness, people. Could these pretty florals be any more perfect? (As if I needed one more reason to wish for springtime weather.) Check out a few product shots and a link to the promo video, after the jump … Keep reading »

3 On-The-Mark Items From Gaultier For Target

We’re (understandably) slightly less excited about cheapie designer collaborations these days. From the shoddy construction and poor fabric quality to the fact that they’re always sold-out so quickly and priced to the max on eBay — it all makes us a little yawny. (Oh, there’s also the overkill factor; let us not ignore that one.) Still, Gaultier is a living fashion legend, and it’s kind of nifty and weird and fun and a major sign of our times that he’s joined up with Target. The collection isn’t too astounding — and we think it reads pretty young, too — but we’ve narrowed it down to a few items that you might want to consider and why. Keep reading »

Sneak Peek: M.I.A. In Vogue

M.I.A. hasn’t really been on the scene since giving birth to Ikhyd last year. But she’s making a comeback draped in gold. Seriously, only this style trailblazer could get away with knuckle rings, bold earrings, fringe bracelets, a statement necklace, a red lip, and polka dot Minx Nails (we suspect).
