Yeah, Right, I Take Nudes For Your Attention, Because It Matters So Much To Me

Do I need to link to anything that says “[Fill in the name of a woman] is getting naked on camera for attention”? It’s been said about me. It’s being said about Kim Kardashian. It’s been said about any woman who’s ever voluntarily had a photo taken in any kind of sexualized context, and several non-sexualized contexts, for that matter.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but here’s what you do to me when you say that I take nude, sexualized photos for attention: You claim that you know my intentions. Are you a mind-reader? To my knowledge, that’s not a thing that exists. So do you know me intimately? No, you don’t, and no one who knows me intimately thinks or says that I take nudes for attention. So what you’re doing is implying that I’m a liar when I say, “No, this is not for attention,” and/or you’re assuming that attention is the only possible motivation any woman could ever have for taking a picture of herself naked, and possibly claiming that you know myself, or any woman, better than we know ourselves. That you have insight on the female character (because women are a monolith) that females don’t have if they state that they are not taking nude pictures for attention. Keep reading »

Naya Rivera Publicly Slut-Shames Kim Kardashian, As If Anybody Cares What She Thinks About Kim’s Butt

When Kim Kardashian’s ass broke — or did not break, depending on whether you work at The Frisky and your servers are just being slow — the internet, “Glee” actress Naya Rivera, noted Kardashian try-hard, felt the need to share her unsolicited opinion on the matter. When Kim posted her Paper magazine cover featuring her glistening bare ass on Instagram, Naya commented:

“I normally don’t. But…you’re someone’s mother….”

Chris Noth Says Carrie Bradshaw Was “Such A Whore” And My Eyes Just Rolled Out Of My Damn Head

Rumors abound about the possibility of a third “Sex and the City” movie, so now Christ Noth (aka Mr. Big) is being interviewed and saying dumb shit. I can’t comment on Noth’s history of saying dumb shit in interviews because I don’t generally pay attention to “Sex and the City” news, but this interview excerpt is pretty notable:

“One of the things I tell people is that he never tried to pretend he was anything other than what he was. It was [Carrie] who tried to pretend he was something he wasn’t. He was always honest about himself — he never cheated on her. The relationship just didn’t work, and he went on to get married while she went on to … how many boyfriends did she have? She was such a whore! [laughs] There’s a misconception that Carrie was a victim of him, and that’s not the case — she was a strong, smart woman.”

Frisky Rant: My Boobs Are Not A Threat To Your Marriage

Frisky Rant: My Boobs Are Not A Threat To Your Marriage

Recently blogger Lauren of Apples and Band-Aids caused an uproar among bloggers when she wrote a post claiming that racy social media images by sexy female strangers were a threat to her marriage. To wit:

When your bare shoulders and stretchmark-less bellies and tanned legs pop up, I not only worry if my husband will linger over your picture. I worry how he will compare me to you.

As I wrap myself into his arms at night, I wonder if he is seeing you there instead of my mess of a body left over from pregnancy. I wonder if he thinks I’m lazy and that I don’t take good care of myself. I wonder if he wishes I looked more like you than who I really am.

And then the insecurity monster comes back to bite at our relationship again … me, begging for affirmation, and him tiring from saying the same thing over and over.

I Have A Message For Floyd Mayweather

In my world, how you’re addressed lies on your actions and attitudes, and yours are sexist, victim-blaming, archaic, slut-shaming and all around offensive. Ergo, FUCK OFF, Floyd Mayweather.
