The other weekend, I was at the New Jersey Shore, soaking up some sun on the beach, when a helicopter flew out over the water. All of a sudden, a rope ladder dropped from it, and a military dude climbed down. Everyone on the beach watched in awe—we all thought we were about to witness some kind of dramatic rescue. Until the guy unfurled a “G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra” banner. There weren’t that many people on this specific beach, so I imagined that this helicopter, and probably many like it, had been going from beach to beach along the Eastern and Western seaboards to spread the word about the flick, which stars hottie Channing Tatum, sharp-dresser Sienna Miller, and Amelia’s new boyfriend Joseph Gordon-Levitt. “She’s too sexy for her job, too sexy for her job, so sexy…” Yes, I changed the lyrics, but the message still fits. Recently-fired UK prison officer Amitjo Kajila wants payback. The 22-year-old is demanding reparations from Justice Secretary Jack Straw after he allegedly fired her for…being too pretty. Officers said the size 4 Kajila received frequent inmate attention due to her make-up and revealing clothes, posing a security risk to herself and the prison. (Really they’re just jealous!) Kajila claims the other officers bullied her for her appearance and called her a “stupid little girl.” (Hey, It’s not her fault she’s hawt!) I guess besides being locked up, ugly prison guards are another drawback to the clink. [Daily Mail]

The U.K.’s Daily Mail just published photos of her two-bedroom boho, Moroccan, open-floor designed flat in Paddington, London. Apparently, even Sienna is being hit by the mortgage crisis, as she just slashed the price by £200,000. (No small hit, I don’t care which currency you figure it in. Not that I feel at all bad for her. She can’t sell one of her many million plus pound homes? Poor thing.) The bizarro highlight of the place is her mirrored, red-walled, Moroccan themed basement. Personally, it’s a little too S&M, naughty-closet feeling for me, especially with no water in the “sunken pool”——but who am I to judge, I live in 400 square feet of non-pool, barely a shower existence! Keira Knightley seems to make period film after period film, and “The Edge of Love” doesn’t break the trend. In it, she and Sienna Miller play two women loved by the famous poet Dylan Thomas. The movie is out in very limited release in the U.S., but we think it looks worth Netflixing for a few reasons: 1) Lindsay Lohan was originally cast in the role Sienna plays, and we’d like to imagine how the train-wreck would have played it. 2) A first, we didn’t even recognize Sienna Miller. She had to put on a little weight for the role, and she looks lovelier than ever. 3) Matthew Rhys, aka Kevin Walker on “Brothers & Sisters,” plays Dylan Thomas. 4) Cillian Murphy and his baby blues.
