Because true love means never having to say you’re sorry, or, you know, justifying your weird obsession with the children’s movie “Shrek,” Jersey (as in Isle of Jersey, not the state) couple Paul and Heidi Bellas got married as Shrek and Fiona from “Shrek.”

The pair got the idea–and presumably the buckets of green finger paint–from their son Leo.  “The essence is that Shrek represents true love,” said Paul. “It doesn’t matter who you are or what you look like, if the love is there then that is what it is about.”

Would You Paint Your Nails Shrek Green?

Everyone’s well aware that the Shrek creators are putting out yet another film about the ogre, but what’s up with the recent fashion world love for the stinky dude? His animal friends appeared in a VMan editorial and now OPI created an entire nail polish collection around the film. The Shrek Forever After Collection includes six different colors — Funky Dunkey, Rumple’s Wiggin’, Ogre-The-Top Blue, What’s With The Cattitude?, Who The Shrek Are You? and Fiercely Fiona — all of which are seriously in-your-face and bright. Why Is Shrek In A Fashion Editorial?

We are pretty consistent fans of uber-cool fashion mag V and its gentlemanly counterpart, VMan. That said, what in God’s name were they thinking with this Shrek editorial? I guess it’s a little funny? Kind of? But it’s mostly just perplexingly behind the times and a total non sequitur. We get that the ten billionth Shrek movie is coming out in a few weeks, but that hardly seems the sort of thing that V would give a crap about. Did the Shrek folk pay them for the placement? Is this just an ill-executed attempt at fashion shock value? Is it, perhaps, an effort at deeper commentary about the relationship between man and animated beast? The best editorials are more than fashion fluffery; they leave us with questions. These, however, are not the right questions. More totally confusing images from the shoot after the jump.
