Style Inspiration: Paris Right Now

Hello from Paris! I’m spending the next month traveling around Europe and this beautiful city was the first stop on my journey. I’ve never been here before and instantly fell in love with the beautiful architecture, friendly people, and endless croissant supply, but the best part? The fashion—oh, the fashion! Women here really do step up their style game, and it’s inspired me to update my wardrobe too. These are the key pieces I’ve seen strutting by me on the sidewalk these past few days. Shopping Guide: 10 Flower Prints Inspired By Peter Som

We couldn’t help but fall a little bit for Peter Som’s exuberant, larger-than-life flower prints in his Spring/Summer 2012 collection. But one thing we can’t abide — or afford — is Som’s exorbitant designer prices. So we’ve searched around and found 10 pieces that evoke the same sense of joy and happiness that Som’s flowers do, without the majorly bummer price tag. The key to wearing any of these floral items? Make sure to keep everything else very, very basic. Check out our picks!

Shopping Guide: 9 Cool Cropped Trenches

Among your cadre of summer-to-fall jacket options, consider the cropped trench. It’s cute, versatile and can be worn as both outerwear and — if you’re feeling particularly daring — as a blazer. We saw a girl wearing one today and were particularly covetous of the easy way the blazer fell over her long T-shirt and seemed to flop just perfectly over her clavicle. We’ve assembled 10 options for your perusal. Let us know what you think!

Shopping Guide: 9 Pretty & Protective iPhone Cases

In the past three years I’ve gone through as many iPhones. And when I got my latest phone, an iPhone 4 upgrade, I vowed I would hold on to it for as long as possible. In order to keep myself from destroying this phone beyond repair (my weakness seems to be water damage), I equipped it with a shiny new hardshell wooden case that’s added protective bulk to my phone. Let’s hope the water stays away this time! If you’ve got similar phone-to-water destruction problems, perhaps you’d like a new case, too? After the jump, check out nine cool case options to keep your phone in check.

Shopping Guide: Rad Rope Detailing

The other day, I saw a great shirt with nautically-themed rope detail on it, and almost purchased it, but balked at the last minute. I’m kicking myself now, because the rope detailing gave the blouse an added kick that elevated it from typical to totally outstanding. To ensure that you and I don’t make that mistake again, I’ve sleuthed out 10 great shirts, dresses and accessories with cool rope detailing to give you a little added pull. Check ‘em out after the jump!

Shopping Guide: 11 Powerful Crystal & Stone Necklaces (Plus, What They Mean!)

You might not know this about me, but I’m a little bit into crystals. At the beginning of the year, I bought a green aventurine stone, and I never take it off. I suppose these things are only as meaningful as you allow them to be, but in my case, my aventurine crystal—which is meant to provide a “heart’s new growth.” Also: “Removes hurts of the heart and encourages new, healthy growth. Balances male/female energies. Amplifies leadership qualities. Provides courage through love.—seems to really do the trick. And let’s face it, having a little crystal power couldn’t hurt. One thing to know about crystals—if you’re really putting your energy into them, you shouldn’t let other people touch them and muck up your energy with them. If someone does touch your crystal, you can place it in a clear glass of water and sea salt on a windowsill, and allow it to soak in the sun’s rays. See, I told you I’m into this stuff. After the jump, a selection of lovely mineral and stone crystal jewelry, and what the stones can bring you. Keep reading »

Shopping Guide: Long & Lovely Necklaces

Long necklaces are a magical part of the jewelry kingdom. They’re great for layering with other necklaces, look striking on their own, and — fun fact! — the long vertical line they create can actually have a slimming effect. Add one to a little black dress, for example, and oh man will you look like a tall drink of water. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorites that measure at least 24″ long and cost less than $50. Click through to check them out, and remember, contrary to what some stores would have you believe, a necklace is not a shirt.
