If you’re anything like us, you find it nearly impossible to leave work, come home and go back out again. Once we get in the vicinity of our couches, the idea of leaving the house to do anything — even the most fun thing — seems unlikely. Which is why it’s imperative that we find outfits that can seamlessly take us from day to evening — without requiring a stop off at home (the social life kiss of death). Check out three day-to-night outfit ideas, after the jump! Keep reading »

This is Totally Coveted, our new whenever series documenting all the super ridiculous crap we want but (probably, most certainly) are too sensible to buy. Denim is perfect for transitioning from summer to fall. How do I know? I’ve got a denim jacket on right now — mostly to stave off the ridiculously cold air conditioning in The Frisky’s bizarrely tempered offices.
This is really my first foray into denim jackets in a long while, mostly because I’ve been unable to find something I really, really like — a jacket that’s not too heavy or cumbersome, but one that’s not just super lightweight cotton, either.
All this jacket shopping got me thinking about how difficult it can be to find something you like and can actually afford. That’s why I’ve searched hard and found some great pieces at both higher price points and in more affordable ranges — proof that you can find something cool no matter your budget.
Take a look and tell us your faves!
You might know pyrite by its other name — Fool’s Gold. It’s true, the stuff vaguely resembles hunks of unpolished, just-mined gold, but it’s way cooler than that — mostly because it’s actually affordable. Plus, we think pyrite has an edgier, punky quality about it. We’ve found 12 pieces of pyrite-y jewelry — most under $40! — for your perusal. Check ‘em out after the jump! Keep reading »
Welcome to Color Me Rad!, our new color series where each week we challenge each other to make awesome, wearable outfits based on a couple of random colors. Think teal and pink can’t work together without make you look like a Malibu Barbie? Think again! Aren’t sure that orange and yellow can really work with brown? We got that.
Each week, we’ll dream up super awesome outfits that mix and match unlikely and unexpectedly fun color combos. For our first go, Winona chose the two above colors (that’s Pantone 296 and Pantone 148, in case you were wondering) and challenged me to come up with a cute, wearable look. Check out what I found after the jump!
The military-inspired utility jacket has been staple of the average college kid’s wardrobe since the dawn of time (or at least since the invention of canvas). While it’s certainly a casual cover-up, there’s more than one way to wear it. In honor of Schooled Week, I’ve put together three outfits — for class, for a date, and for a party — that show just how versatile this jacket is. Keep reading »
H&M has long been the mecca of affordable, adorable, celebrity-approved clothes, trendy pieces and simple classics alike, but there’s always been a catch: while you could browse a bit of the (massive) selection on their website, you could only actually purchase the items in one of their hundreds of international stores. The company has always been pretty vague on the subject of launching e-commerce … until, like, yesterday, when they announced that they’d be launching a new shoppable site as of today. Rejoice! Now you can shop thousands of amazing H&M picks from the comfort of your home. The selection is expansive, and a little overwhelming, so I’ve gone ahead and plucked 20 perfect pieces from the site. The best part? Every single item is under $50.
Dad jeans: they’re ill-fitting! They’re man/woman-repelling! They’re generally unattractive! And they’re also really, really trendy. Trust me on this one, I live in Brooklyn. Worn with a cute fitted top and a dash of irony, you’d be surprised by just how stylish and versatile they really are. (More importantly: comfortable.) These 10 pairs of dad jeans (mom jeans? boyfriend jeans?) would make a welcome, if unlikely, addition to any wardrobe…
I scoped out the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale over the weekend, and one trend definitely stood out to me: So. Much. Faux. Leather. I’m not complaining! I love the look of leather, but I really love faux leather because it’s more affordable and more humane than genuine leather. Want to add this sexy trend to your fall wardrobe? I rounded up 10 of my favorite faux leather pieces from the Nordstrom sale, including sexy leather-esque pants in plus, petite, and regular sizes. Click through to shop the trend, but shop fast — these prices are only good til August 5th!
