Shopping Guide: 10 Pairs Of Perfect Spring Flats

Is that the chirping of birds I hear? Oh, it is, and you know what that means — spring has sprung, babes. I’m going bare-legged today, and it couldn’t possibly feel any better … not like we had a long winter, or a winter at all, actually. Like many people with a neurotic personality complex, I am terrified of this global warming stuff (despite knowing next to nothing about it scientifically) and the distinct possibility of a hell-blazing summer, but it’s soooooo nice out I’m going to worry myself sick over it later. Yay!

Anyway, one of the best things about the temperature rising is not having to wear thick socks and leather boots. I love me some ankle freedom, but being the public transportation-using city slicker that I am, I tend to save my sandals for weekends in Connecticut or all of those tropical vacations I go on. I can’t stand grimy soles, my toes being stepped on, et al, so it’s all flat shoes from here on out. Whether they’re ballet flats, smoking slippers, or some hip Oxfords, check out these 10 pairs of perfect flats at a range of prices, regardless of whether you’re a pavement-pounding urbanite or a laid-back country girl.

Make 2012 your most glowing year yet. Read More »

I hate wearing sunscreen, which is particularly unfortunate when you consider that I have the whitest, most translucent, most easily burnt skin this side of hole in the ozone layer. I rarely sunbathe, given that as a mole creature I shrivel when exposed to sunlight, but I will admit to a few incidents when I was in high school that involved careless “tanning” with Italian friends whose skin bronzed to perfection in the rays. I basked enviously that afternoon, confident that I, too, would grow tan if I followed their lead. Wrong. So wrong. I’ll spare you the details, but I was vivid, unmistakable scarlet by nightfall, and I still have residual freckles from the incident. It’s a wonderful recipe for skin cancer, which I sincerely hope I do not get. Keep reading »

Grab a leprechaun and head out to O’Dooleys Pub, because tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day. I’ll be hiding in underground bunker, as it my opinion that it is the worst faux-holiday of the year. Luckily, just a few simple additions can transform the most basic of sleeping quarters into a sumptuous boudoir fit for a lady. Remember: treat yourself! You deserve it.

Shopping Guide: 10 Cheap Pairs Of Sunglasses In Every Style!

As much as I love my sunglasses, I’m in a constant state of losing them. It’s usually my favorite pair that I “misplace,” given that I’m always carrying them with me, and it usually ends in tears. There’s just way too many places to casually leave them and then forget about them just as casually. They also happen to be ridiculously easy to break and scratch, what with the bending arms and fragile lenses. After losing three pairs of Ray-Bans in the past two years, the days of shelling out for a designer pair are over, and I’ve become a connoisseur on the quest for good-looking, decent quality sunglasses that I won’t have a panic attack over if I leave them somewhere. Here’s my round-up of 10 stylish shades that won’t break the bank, or your heart.
