Her wooden sword should come in handy when fighting back against the mean girl tabloids who question her fashion sense. [Los Angeles, 9/19/10] Keep reading »
This is a week full of questions for me as I skim through the tabloids. Apart from the usual riddles—like “Why I am still reading news about Kate Gosselin?”—a new bunch of puzzles have emerged. After the jump, we’ve weeded out the unnecessary, superficial and mundane stories from this week’s fleet of tabloids and distilled it down to just the juiciest and most entertaining bits. “It’s not my choice. I have a very strong-willed four-year-old girl, who tells me what she wants to wear and I let her be who she is. I think people think kids should be a certain way, but I feel they should wear what they feel like wearing and they should express themselves. Shiloh cried one night and said, ‘Please cut my hair off. I don’t want to have long hair.’ I’m not going to leave it long because somebody thinks I should.”
– Angelina Jolie explains that daughter Shiloh’s “boyish” appearance is her prerogative in Grazia magazine [Huffington Post] Keep reading »
So, my ovaries did cartwheels when I saw this lightbox of photos of Angelina Jolie and her oldest kids (i.e., the twins were left at home) at an airport in Japan. Maddox’s boy beater! Pax’s aviator sunglasses tucked down the front of his shirt! His suit! Shiloh’s “Bitch, I don’t know these people” attitude! Zahara’s mischievous smirk! Check out a few more photos — I’m sorry, I couldn’t stop myself — after the jump … Keep reading »
I’m not sure I’d want to be raised by a majah supah-stah like Angelina Jolie. Her kids will go to 72 different schools while she zips around the world filming movies. They’re followed by paparazzi everywhere and they’re probably mostly raised by nannies. Still, Angelina sounds like a kick-ass mom in the area where it really counts: supporting her kids. She recently came to her 4-year-old daughter’s defense when asked by a reporter about Shiloh‘s tomboy style… Keep reading »
“[Shiloh] likes to dress like a boy. She wants to be a boy. So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys’ everything. She thinks she’s one of the brothers … Mad’s a real intellectual, which I can take no credit for genetically. He’s great at school, great at history. He feels like he could be a writer or travel the world and learn about places and things. Zahara’s got an extraordinary voice and is just so elegant and well spoken. Shiloh’s hysterically funny, one of the goofiest, most playful people you’ll ever meet. Knox and Viv are classic boy and girl. She’s really female. And he’s really a little dude.”
– Angelina Jolie talks about daughter Shiloh’s masculine style, which was criticized in the tabloids, and the personalities of her other children during a Vanity Fair interview. Um, but we think she forgot someone. What about Pax? [Hollywood Life] Keep reading »
For f**k’s sake, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt cuts her hair and wears jeans and this tabloid rag calls in the experts to claim the 3-year-old has entered “cross-dresser territory.” She’s a tomboy, there is nothing wrong with that, and she is awesome. Seriously, this kind of tabloid fodder makes me want to crawl into a hole and never come out, it is so evil. From here on out, Life & Style won’t be getting linked to from The Frisky. Cretins. Everyone calm down! Us Weekly has consulted the “experts,” and they have concluded that despite the fact that her parents dress her like a little boy, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt will probably not have serious gender identity issues. PHEW. That was a close one. Keep reading »
