Generally, we are completely underwhelmed by the “celebrities” who make it onto “Celebrity Wife Swap.” But I am pretty fascinated by the latest two who will be trading wives, and lives, for an upcoming episode of the show. Apparently, today Ted Haggard—the former pastor of New Life Church who was ousted when it was discovered that he frequented a male prostitute (for massages, y’all)—filmed an episode of the show. Over the past few years working at The Frisky, I have covered an exorbitant number of sex scandals. It’s pretty clear to all of us that sex scandals are cropping up more and more frequently, for both politicians and celebrities. It’s unclear whether people are stepping out more on their marriages, or if technology (texting, Twitter, Facebook) leaves people more vulnerable to being caught, or if our 15-seconds-of-fame culture leads second and third parties to step forward and soak up the limelight more than they would have in the past. But it’s clear that something is certainly up. Insert Weiner joke here.

Anthony Weiner Checks Into Sex Rehab

Just a few days after the world got a peek at Anthony Weiner’s wiener, his spokesperson made a big announcement—Weiner is taking a leave of absence from his post on Capitol Hill to “seek professional treatment to focus on becoming a better husband and healthier person.” In other words, like sex scandalites Jesse James and Tiger Woods before him—who I should point out, had actual sex a lot in the scandals that cost them their wives and reputations—Anthony is checking into sex rehab. Here’s hoping Weiner gets some good therapy and learns what he was seeking in sending out sexy emails to six different women despite being married.

Oh Kendra. Everyone’s favorite “Girl Next Door” has a new sex tape making the rounds on the interwebs. And while the tape of her that was released in May was with her high school boyfriend Justin Frye, this time around her partner on film is a female friend, Taryn Ryan. But that isn’t the most scandalous thing. Apparently, Kendra claims she tried to block the release of this tape and the one that came out in May. But Radar Online says she set up a holding company in 2008, so that when they were released she would get a large chunk of the profits. They say she made $680,000 from the sale. [Huffington Post]

Sex Scandal Teachers: Where Are They Now?

Just as we were hearing the post-New Year’s Eve reports that Reese Witherspoon and LeAnn Rimes were engaged, we heard about a third woman planning to tie the knot—Debra Beasley. Wait, the name doesn’t ring a bell? That’s because you know her as Debra Lafave, the Florida middle school teacher who was sentenced to three years of house arrest after it was discovered that she’d had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student—in her car, at her house, and at least once in a portable classroom at the school. Radar reported that Debra, now going by her maiden name, was engaged to Shawn Haverfield, a Florida bar owner. Haverfield says that isn’t actually true, but the two do appear to be living together. A source says that his family thinks “Debbie is a great girl.” [Radar, Tampa Bay Online]
