“Sex And The City 2″ Goes Green!

An obsession with green has taken hold of the world, and even the “Sex and the City” ladies have been inspired to go earth-friendly with their style choices. Technically, if you think about it, eco-friendly fashion is nothing new for “SATC.” After all, Carrie Bradshaw has always had a healthy obsession with vintage finds. But the character we least expected to tote around a green handbag does just that in “Sex and the City 2.” Samantha Jones, queen of all things expensive, totes around the Mega Ecoist bag in silver, created entirely from recycled candy wrappers. A little crunchy for her, no? The good news is that Samantha’s bag is not only eco-friendly, but also wallet-friendly, retailing for $178! That’s a whole lot more affordable than a pair of Manolos or an Hermès Birkin bag. [Treehugger] Keep reading »

10 Reasons Why I Saw “Shrek” This Weekend Instead Of “Sex And The City 2″

I know some ground rules have been placed on redundant “Sex and the City” conversations, but I’m pretty sure I am safe with this one. This weekend, I found myself with some flexible finances, four days of free time, and an urge to avoid serious thinking. All this added up to a friend and I planning to go see a movie on Friday night. We narrowed down our choices to “Sex and the City 2″ or “Shrek Forever After.” In the end, even though I watched the show religiously and was one of the many Carrie-clad individuals who showed up for the midnight screening of the first film, I chose “Shrek.” Here’s why. Well, it seems Pat looks to her own experiences and fantasies for inspiration. Here’s what she told Racked regarding the camel scene in “Sex and the City 2“… Keep reading »

“SATC”‘s Samantha Does What She Does Best

In “Sex and the City,” Samantha gets a certain look on her face whenever she sees a hot dude she is about to pounce. It’s a look characterized by glassy eyes, raised eyebrows, and an open mouth. In honor of the movie—which just opened and is already on track to make even more dough than the first one—New York Magazine has put together a collection of these moments. Enjoy. 10 Reasons To See “Sex And The City 2″

Critics have been panning “Sex and the City 2.” MTV’s Kurt Loder described it as “a ghastly mess, a stake in the heart of the great TV series that ran from 1998 to 2004. This second ‘SATC’ movie (I liked the first one) is misconceived on every level.” OK, so there’s really no comparison to the TV show, which is in a totally different league than the sequel. But I wouldn’t say “SATC 2″ is a mess that can’t be enjoyed. I saw a screening of it last night and actually LOL’d (a rarity for me) at all the Samantha sex jokes, and I oohed and ahhed at the posh accommodations Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha enjoyed in Abu Dhabi. But these aren’t the only reasons you should see this rom-com, which should be enjoyed simply as that. Check out 10 more SPOILER-FREE reasons to see “Sex and the City 2,” after the jump. How Not To Date Like Carrie Bradshaw

Carrie Bradshaw is not only a Manhattan and fashion icon, but as a dating columnist, she’s considered a dating icon as well. Why? She’s selfish, immature, manipulative, impulsive, and, let’s face it, kind of psycho. She gives women, even kooky women, a bad name. Ladies, feel free to emulate Carrie’s style and visit her favorite NYC haunts, but when it comes to dating, it’s best to do anything but what she does. Carrie makes several common mistakes throughout the “Sex and the City” series and by watching her missteps, women can learn a lot about what to do and, more importantly, what not to do, at all stages of a relationship. Mind Of Man: I Don’t Totally Despise “Sex And The City”

“Sex and the City” is female wish fulfillment. But then again, “Iron Man” is male wish fulfillment. Women wish they could wear haute couture; men wish they could wear a flying robot suit. But such daydreams are just the candy shell of the Blow Pop. The bubblegum at the center isn’t that different from many of my favorite manly movies and television shows. The evil Emperor called Luke Skywalker’s faith in his friends his greatest weakness. But it was Skywalker’s greatest strength; the “Star Wars” movies are about friendships, loyalties, fighting monsters with people who will watch your back no matter what. Likewise, “Sex and the City” is a big wish: that we are not alone in our life’s adventure. You can’t choose your family. Romantic love is fleeting. Friends are forever. Keep reading »
