We’re mere months away from the release of “Sex and the City 2,” which comes out on May 27. The rumors are already flying about the fashion, the infidelities, and the best friends you never had! I’m a die-hard fan of “SATC,” but will Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and (Kristin Davis) ultimately disappoint us? They’re going to leave us here eventually, fingering the stems of our Cosmopolitans, but will the sequel briefly satisfy that itch? We’ve compiled five reasons to see and not to see the movie. Oh, and minor spoiler alert ahead!

They’re baaaack! The “Sex and the City 2” trailer has just been released, and while it is short on plot reveals, it does indicate that economic crisis be damned, the girls are going to destinations far and wide. Egypt! London! Also, if you thought you were going to escape that “Empire State of Mind” song anytime soon, you were wrong. So are you psyched to see the SATC sequel?

Sometimes I feel like Miranda Hobbes is the Jan Brady of “Sex and the City.” Just look at this just released film still from the upcoming “SATC” movie sequel. Carrie, Charlotte, and Samantha all look perfectly “posed” and fabulous, while Miranda looks like she’s showing off her blowie technique on a microphone. WTF? Anyway, by the looks of this photo, the gals are doing some sort of karaoke. Bachelorette party?

Hot off the presses! Check out the just-released cover of the Sex and the City prequel: Candace Bushnell‘s The Carrie Diaries. The book, which takes place during Carrie Bradshaw’s high school years, won’t be released until April 27, 2010, and “Sex and the City 2” isn’t slated for release until May 28, 2010, but it’s never too early to pre-order, is it? This time around, the story focuses on Carrie’s first love (Mr. Tiny?), her early relationships, and how she became a writer. The book is the first of two that chronicle Carrie’s early years. Surely this means there’ll be more “Sex and the City” movies for years to come. [People]

I know, I know. If you see one more send-up of Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” you’re going to slit your wrists. After seeing the versions done by football players on “Glee,” Justin Timberlake on “SNL,” and indie rockers Pomplamoose, what else could possibly be done to add new intrigue to this poor, copycatted tune?  Well, someone very dear to my theatre-loving heart is rumored to be having a go at the ditty. In perhaps the best “Sex and the City 2” spoiler news ever, Us Weekly reports that Ms. Liza Minnelli herself will be performing the song in a wedding scene during the film. OK … I’m so giddy I forgot to wonder who is getting married. I seriously can’t wait to see Liza turn that bitch out. I wonder if she’ll do it in full Fosse getup? [MSN]

We’ve always been curious about what it’s like to be in a movie, even if you’re only in the background. In an essay on The Daily Beast, writer Rebecca Dana shares what it was like to spend a day as an extra in the “Sex and the City” sequel. Cast as a lipstick lesbian because of her pixie cut, Dana was told to dress as extravagantly and label-tastic as possible. A bus picked her up in New York City at 6:30 a.m. and took her and other extras to Long Island. Dana spent most of the day in a holding pen with other extras, or holding hands with her “lesbian lover” in the background of a shot. She did, however, pick up a few clues about the upcoming movie.
