You may have heard of the golden ratio of beauty at this point. Scientists love to talk about it (I assume because it’s considered a “sexy” study and therefore it gets them more press). After all, the closer we come to quantifying that elusive asset called beauty, the easier it may be to manipulate ourselves in order to achieve it. And yes, that is sick and twisted, but it’s not my fault humans are the way they are.

Anyhoo, researchers at University of California, San Diego claim they have big news to share: They say they’ve “discovered the ideal alignment of female facial features, a pair of measurements that explain why one woman is perceived as attractive and the other, well, isn’t,” which seems weird since many a scientist before has boasted the same thing. But interestingly, these folks have some ideas on how to fake the kind of symmetry that will make the masses bow down and want to bone you.

“It has taken me three years to decide on the scent because I really like B.O. and I think it’s sexy. I wanted to figure out a way to make it palatable to everybody. I was like, ‘How do you get B.O. in a bottle and make an atomizer of it?’ ‘Then it was all about trying to capture the sense of naughtiness in a bottle that it would be good for a man and a woman.”

In the December issue of Elle, cover girl Sarah Jessica Parker talks about becoming a mother (and loving the smell of diapers) and jokes that her two daughters, Marion (called Loretta) and Tabitha, will one day raid her closet: “The only tragedy would be if their feet are bigger than mine.” Having large feet would be unfortunate for the two girls, considering the number of beautiful designer shoes Parker has amassed as a result of playing “Sex and the City“‘s Carrie Bradshaw since the late ‘90s.

My personal shoe collection isn’t much, and I’m not sure future daughters of mine would be thrilled if I saved a battered pair of London Sole ballet flats for them. They would, however, have fun going through my jewelry box and piling on the diverse assortment of bangle bracelets I’ve collected—from fancy to 50-cent—along with tying the million and one scarves I own around their necks. She’s already launched Lovely and Covet, but Sarah Jessica Parker isn’t ready to end her perfume rampage. Along with the newest “Sex and the City” movie, Carrie’s real life fashion maven created SJP, NYC. Because when you already have two perfumes, why not make a trio, right?

The newest scent will launch in February and is capitalizing on the obsession many have with Carrie Bradshaw and her bold fashion sense. “A large part of the inspiration was what I now understand to be people’s impressions of seeing Carrie Bradshaw walk down the street and what feelings that evokes for her and for them — a real sense of freedom and possibilities, a love for the city around her and, of course, fashion,” she said of the new perfume. But, after her last two classy fragrance bottles, the newest one is a little lacking in elegant design, no? How do you feel about the leopard and zebra print paired with bright blue? We get it. The reason to take a hit show like “Sex and The City” and make not one, but two feature films based on it are: a.) to continue the storyline for fans, and b.) to create a gloriously entertaining fashion parade on the big screen. (At least, that seems to be the motivation, besides making money and stuff, natch.) But the more clothes we see from the set, the more afraid we are.

Major spoiler alert! Details are being uncovered left and right about “Sex and the City 2” and we’re going to totally ruin it for you. The movie comes out in May of 2010, and it’s been filming in New York and Morocco all summer. (Morocco? Why? Guess you’ll have to read more to find out.) Journalists are using every method available to gather information, and we’ve pieced the gems together for your spoiling pleasure. Just pretend this blog is the source material and, essentially, you’re just reading the book before the movie, for once.

Between Sarah Jessica Parker‘s all-white ensemble on the “Sex and the City” sequel yesterday, Tiffany Thornton’s look for “It’s On With Alexa Chung” and Kylie Minogue‘s slammin’ ivory dress for just because, it seems like celebs are all frenzied trying to wear up their white clothes before the impending holiday weekend. Because, you know, someone in the public eye couldn’t possibly get away with—gasp!—wearing white after Labor Day.

The book Prospect Park West won’t be released until Sept. 9, 2009, but author Amy Sohn, a former New York magazine columnist, is getting a huge publicity push from a woman who knows a thing or two about making four NYC friends popular worldwide. Sarah Jessica Parker’s Pretty Matches production company, along with HBO, has optioned the novel for a half-hour series. “It’s got sex, parenthood, and celebrity. Brooklyn is about to blow up nationally,” an insider at Simon & Schuster told the New York Post. But after reading a brief description of the characters, I doubt I’ll relate to any of them, and I’m a New Yorker. The four women are yuppies who, like other urban pioneers, are trying to stake their claim on the outer borough of Brooklyn, but only the overpriced neighborhood of Park Slope. They’re “burned out, bitchy, and beyond salvation,” yet they expect to be noticed and loved. Basically they seem like the same women I run into on a daily basis—rude mommies who think everyone’s top priority should be their kid. Reading is an escape for me, but Prospect Park West seems like it’ll be torture. No, thank you!
