“Sex and the City” first appeared on TV in 1998, but the volume of conversations we’ve had about the show make it seem like it’s been on for decades. Include the movies — like “Sex and the City 2,” which appears in theaters on May 27 — and it feels like centuries.

This is sort of an old clip, from an episode of Saturday Night Live around the time that Sex and the City went off the air, but I was out to dinner with friends last night and a huge group of them hadn’t seen it — and neither had our Catherine. Do you remember that Sex and the City episode where Samantha’s doctor tells her she might have developed breast cancer because of her “lifestyle choices” (being single and childless). Well, now there’s a study that says happily married adults have lower blood pressure than single people. Don’t take this as an edict to get married, though, because the unhappily married had even worse blood pressure than singles.
