Watch Video

Summer is just around the corner! Hair removal season has begun! In our “Getting Smooth Survival Guide,” we’ll be testing out various ways to defuzz your body parts, if defuzzing is something you choose to do. (No judgement if you’re happily rocking body hair. Do you, girl.) First up, I allowed cameras to film me, gulp, waxing myself with Sally Hansen’s Hair Remover Wax Strip Kit. Watch the video above and read my review of the product after the jump! Bonus: a close up photo of my just removed pubic hair. Keep reading »

Beauty Test Drive: Are Sally Hansen Salon Effects Strips Worth The Money?

There have been few innovations in how fingernails are decorated in the last few years–but Sally Hansen Salon Effects strips are one of the best. Salon Effects strips are made of real nail polish; they adhered rather well to my nails and chipped like regular nail polish. The Sally Hansen Salon Effects were really easy to apply, and even my right hand, the hand I write with, looked just as good as the left one — with no dry time! As the name suggests, the nail polish strips are available in salon-caliber nail designs (I used “Cut It Out,” a white and black ’60s flower power design), but there are also beautiful, design-free colors available. I wore the Salon Effects for a week and had a few minor chips in the polish. The strips were easy to remove with regular nail polish remover, too. I can’t wait to try these again. Plus, they’ll cut down on my trips to the nail salon. Check out pics of my nails after the jump. [$9.99, Ulta Beauty] Keep reading »

Believe It Or Not, Sally Hansen’s About To Be The Next “It” Nail Polish Brand

It seems ever since Chanel surprised us with jade and gray nails last year, an awareness of varnish trends has been at an all-time high, and it’s coming straight from the runway. Next spring, however, it looks like Chanel (and the other high-design houses with beauty empires attached) will have some mass market competition. Sally Hansen, which can hardly be called a “cool” beauty brand, wisely teamed up with designers Prabal Gurung and Tracy Reese to provide lacquers to suit their spring collections, which just came down the runway at New York Fashion Week. Crave: Sally Hansen Nail Pen

We’re not sure if we actually do crave this, because it’s something we need to try. We are HORRIBLE at painting our own nails, which is why we go see Susan down the street from our office every few weeks. But it would be nice to save some bucks and be able to give ourselves a streak-free polish without getting hot pink all over our knuckles and coffee table and couch cushions. So yeah, Sally Hansen, we are going to try your ingenius nail pen and see if it really makes home manicures easier. [$8.49, Walgreens.com] Keep reading »
