Since hearing about the woman who found a frog in her Pret A Manger salad, I always inspect my greenery thoroughly before eating. But I’m starting to think that no salad is safe now that another woman has come forward claiming that she found a lizard arm and leg in her lunch at yet another NYC “fresh food” chain.

At this moment I am regretting every soup, salad and wrap I ever ate at New York’s fresh fast food chain Pret a Manger (and I have eaten there many times.) Wall Street Journal editor Kathryn Lurie was dining at the chain with a colleague when her friend spotted a DEAD FROG in her Salad Nicoise and naturally, posted the photo on Facebook to ruin our appetites for all eternity. I know, at first glance it almost looks like a wilted pile of asparagus, which is also kind of off-putting, but not in the same universe as a dead animal. How a frog got in a Pret salad is beyond everyone’s wildest imagination, including the good people at the food chain. A rep from the company made the following statement about the incident:
“At Pret A Manger, we take issues like this very seriously. Our lettuce is sourced from farms that do not use any pesticides on its produce, therefore organic matter does very rarely manage to pass through our production process. We are currently looking into this issue to make every effort that this does not happen again.”
Well, at least we know the frog was organic. [Gawker]
