A Belt That Won’t Keep Your Pants On

I whip my hair belt back and forth! Well, I would if I had this combination belt and cat of nine tails. Hint, hint, boy toys! But you don’t have to bend over to purchase this kinky item. Made by dirty designer Incoqnito, it retails for a mere 89 bones. Think of it as an investment piece. [Trend Hunter] Keep reading »

Republican Employee Fired Over L.A. Bondage Club Outing

Far be it for us to criticize an outing to a “risque” bondage nightclub as a getting-to-know-you exercise. But the Republican National Committee is not having it. Today, the RNC canned Allison Meyers, director of the group’s “Young Eagles” program, after news of a scandal broke yesterday that Meyer had approved the reimbursement of receipts for Voyeur, a West Hollywood bondage club where performers do S&M (sadomasochistic) acts onstage. The nearly $2,000 “Young Eagles” outing was apparently reimbursed to Republican donor Erik Browne. But, according to an internal email by the RNC Chief of Staff, obtained by the political news website Politico, the February trip to Voyeur was not an RNC-sanctioned event; supposedly, neither RNC Chairman Michael Steele, nor senior staff, knew about the expenditure. [The Huffington Post]

Yay for accountability! But let’s not ignore the big question here: Before Meyers got fired, do you think she got a hearty S&M spanking first? Keep reading »

Doin’ It With Dr. V: Love Hurts & Sex Bruises

This week I got a letter from a lady who is learning that love may hurt, but sex can leave a bruise: “I met a guy who’s shaping up to be pretty awesome. Except, he squeezed my boobs so hard the other night that i woke up the next morning with black and blue bruises from where his fingers were. Needless to say, next time I see him, we’ll be having a little chit-chat. Or will we? Because when I look in the mirror instead of thinking, ‘Ew, those nasty marks are GROSS!’, my thought process is more along the lines of, ‘Hell yeah, I got some last night!’ I generally have the same reaction when I get hickeys, even if it’s a pain to cover them up and they look horrendous. Is it strange to take pleasure in getting sex scars?”

Yeah! You got some! [Insert victory dance here.] Meanwhile, I was just watching “Project Runway.”

Anyway, I once was in love with a biter. One night, he chomped down on my nips so hard I couldn’t wear a bra for two days. It hurt so good that I’m not even embarrassed to say I like the John Mellencamp song of the same name! No need to be disgusted by yourself. Maybe you’re just discovering that you’re into S&M like a lot of peeps, including yours truly. Psst, I’m an easy bruiser too.

Battle wounds are cool, and love marks are a source of pride — that is, unless they embarrass you at the office. Here’s how I cover ‘em up to save corporate face… Keep reading »

Everything You Need For A Kinky Night In

Eliot Spitzer And Sexytime Violence

Nearly a year after news of Eliot Spitzer’s Hookergate scandal, new sordid details have been revealed. The New York Daily News reports that a second call girl, who goes by the name “Annie,” claims that Spitzer choked her as part of role-playing foreplay. S&M is nothing new, and New York’s erstwhile governor may not be the most shining example of conventional sexual appetites, but this account supports anecdotal evidence of a growing sexual trend. Where once spanking, dirty talk, and hair-pulling pushed the limits of casual sexual encounters, choking, face-slapping and spitting are becoming more and more part and parcel of hooking up. What happens in the privacy of the bedroom is a matter of taste, I suppose, but in light of the recent, high profile Chris Brown/Rihanna scandal, you kinda can’t help but wonder whether harmless sex games and real-life violence toward women are connected. What’s permissible behind closed doors might well bear itself out in everyday life. Do you think S&M subconsciously normalizes violence towards women? Keep reading »

Spiraling Economy Spawns Freelance Dominatrixes

As the economy goes soft, some women are seeking to earn extra cash as freelance sex workers. As it turns out, there’s a market for powerful career gals who can dominate a man’s world — literally. According to Tracy Quan’s “Kinkonomics,” recently laid off ladies are freelancing as professional dominatrixes. Although sex workers generally consider pro-domme work the most difficult sex work, these well-educated, middle-class working girls have decided to try their hand at the kinky version of the world’s oldest profession. It’s another type of economic stimulus package; this one includes bondage, verbal humiliation, and foot worship. [The Daily Beast]

Barbie: Now With Even More Vinyl!

There’s some stiff competition, but the sluttiest Barbie of all time has just come out: Black Canary. It’s based on the comic book character and conservative Christian groups are pissed because the kids brand doll has been (even more) tricked out in this outfit — a vinyl teddy and knee high boots with fishnets. Does Barbie like it rough? Now, we’re not sure who the market for this S&M Barbie is, but it looks just like Cher from the “If I Could Turn Back Time” video. Patent vinyl is clearly a timeless fashion classic. [Dlisted]

If Britain’s S&M Scene Is Secret, Why Are So Many People Commenting?

BBC News published an article on Britain’s “secretive “S&M scene” yesterday, saying that Max Mosley’s antics are really opening people up. (He had a sadomasochistic session with five prostitutes, with whom he engaged in a concentration camp scenario.) The comments in response to the story are great though, because many BDSM practitioners defend their chosen sex life. One even sort of confirms yesterday’s post about being born with the desire for S&M: “I don’t really indulge in S&M (it just hurts, frankly, which is a good way to tell if it’s for you).” Other commenters are upset with the BBC for printing the story: “It’s clear to me that England is becoming more Satanic in nature every day, and the people who work for the BBC must take some responsibility for that.” Let’s blame the war in Iraq on the BBC, while we’re at it. S&M: Maybe She’s Born With It

The slang “natural born freak” is gaining some expert evidence. Like to be tied up, rode hard, and left wet…or do that to your lover? Well, some scientific theories are swirling that sadomasochism, whether you’re the dom or the sub, is innate. You’re born wanting to get it on with whips, handcuffs, paddles, gags, and leather or for those S&M vegans, pleather. While sadomasochistic sex has been portrayed in marriage manuals dating all the way back to ancient India, the roots of the desire are still being debated. In 1948, when renowned sex researcher, Alfred Kinsey, claimed nearly 50% of people like to be bitten during sex, scientists were shocked (or at least pretended to be). Ever since, the studies have been pouring in and people have been putting out, telling their deep, dark, dungeony secrets. Sure, some psychoanalysts think that S&M stems from fears of castrations or early childhood shame, but others have a new idea about the sex play. Vivienne Parry, a self-proclaimed S&M loving columnist with a science background [No relation! -- Editor], has done her homework and thinks that just like homosexuality, it’s in your genes if you like to get kinky. That it is in fact nature over nurture. Sounds like people are even more bound to bondage than they imagined! [Times] Keep reading »
