Ryan Adams And Mandy Moore Duet

Alt-country rocker Ryan Adams and reformed teen star Mandy Moore are one of my favorite celebrity couples. Mostly because they stay under the radar and only emerge to say sweet things about each other. I was excited a few months ago when I heard that they had performed a few songs together. Mandy Moore’s A Heartbreaker (And A Ball-Buster)

Mandy Moore is a whole new woman these days. Not only is she a newlywed (her husband is musician Ryan Adams), but she has an album coming out May 26. The video for her first single, “I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of The Week,” is out, and after watching it, we’ll be very interested in hear her other new songs. While Mandy was über pop-tastic back in her early days, her last album, Wild Hope, was very folksy and more our speed. Has she gone back to a more “Candy”-like style, or has Ryan had an influence on her sound? I guess we’ll find out when Amanda Leigh hits stores next month. Keep reading »

    Pink’s post-divorce record drops today, but we’ve already be bopping our head to her single “So What,” which can pretty much been found on the radio at all times on one station or another. Of all of Pink’s albums, this one feels the most personal, she’s exercising the demons from her divorce. The album shares the title with one of Iggy Pop and The Stooges’ opuses, but the party fun house they were talking about isn’t anything like the empty remains of the domicile she shared with her ex-husband. Yet, somehow Pink’s pain makes for great, fun pop songs. Take notes Alanis Morrissette.

Ryan Adams reminds me of that awkward-yet-intriguing guy in high school who loved reading comic books, always had bed head, and wore ratty punk band t-shirts. You know, the kid you thought was strange, but secretly suspected might also be strangely brilliant. Judging by his legion of devoted fans who have followed him from Whiskeytown to the Cardinals, as well as the number of “How to Wallow Alone in Your Dark Room” mix tapes which include “Come Pick Me Up,” Ryan is definitely the latter. Love him or hate him, no one can deny that this musician, painter, soon-to-be-published author, and “fickle blogger” has the guts to put himself out there – insecurities and all – again, and again, and again. Plus, any man whose wardrobe includes glittery silver platform boots gets an automatic yes in my book. Keep reading »
