Katy Sagal at Roseanne's Roast
Bad Mom?

Roseanne Barr wasn’t the only lady in the hot seat on Sunday night’s Comedy Central roast: Mitt Romney’s wife Ann Romney also took a punch. It was delivered by Katey Sagal, the actress who played chronically disinterested mom Peg Bundy on “Married With Children.” Sagal quipped:

Roseanne, I feel honored that you and I broke new ground as TV moms who didn’t cook, didn’t clean, and didn’t make any money. In the ’90s that made you a bad mom, but today it makes you Mitt Romney’s wife. Keep reading »

Small Screen Big Happenings: Mercedes’ Love Interest? Alan Ball’s Amish Show? Roseanne Reprise?

Because I am an admitted TV head, reading the entertainment news this morning was like bit like sniffing glue. There is just so much going on in the television universe! After the jump, read all the news, from Jennifer Love Hewitt‘s new-old role and Roseanne Barr‘s potential new sitcom. Keep reading »

No, Roseanne Barr Doesn’t Want To Go To The Movies With You

“I hate movies. I hate the whole f**king movie business. I hate everything involved with movies. Producers. Moviemakers. Those people are freaking nuts and criminals. I can’t take it. They’re not like the rest of humanity. I’d rather hang out with plumbers. They’re so self-important. And everything they do is bulls**t. Excuse me, but movies are bulls**t. They’re tidy little f**king bulls**t stories. They all have a rape thing in them. They’re all anti-woman. They’re all f**king bullshit. There isn’t one of ‘em that speaks to me or says anything decent. Somebody could go in with the best f**king script, like, ‘Grapes of Wrath,’ and they’d come out and it’d star Kevin James. Nothing can happen good in movies and it never does … I didn’t like being in movies. You have to sit there 19 hours in a trailer. Which is why I got into show business—to get out of a f**king trailer. I’m sitting in a trailer and 19 hours later, they come down and they turned on a light. So you go down and stand there and then you go back and wait 19 more hours. And then you go and say your line 75 times in a row. It’s boring to me. I liked that movie ‘V [for Vendetta].’

Roseanne Barr tells The Daily Beast how she really feels about the movie industry. I guess you you shouldn’t invite her to movie night, unless you happen to be screening the one she thinks is acceptable. Sure, she may be a bit of a sourpuss but I love that Roseanne can go on this kind of rant simply by being asked, “Did you see ‘Knocked Up’?” [The Daily Beast] Keep reading »

Roseanne Barr Headed Back To The Small Screen?

Doesn’t everyone wish they had an aunt like Roseanne Barr? Well, apparently, Chelsea Handler does. Chelsea revealed this week that she is in talks with Roseanne to have her join the cast of “Are You There Vodka?,” the NBC sitcom based on Chelsea’s best-selling book which stars “That ’70s Show”‘s Laura Prepon as Chelsea and Chelsea herself as her older, pregnant sister. If Roseanne signs on, she will be playing Chelsea’s crazy aunt. Keep reading »

Girl Talk: What I’ve Learned From Working With Other Women

In a piece she penned for the latest issue of New York magazine, Roseanne Barr discusses her experience as a feminist pioneer in media. Throughout the piece she shares anecdotes about struggling to make it in a male-dominated industry. Of the most interest to me were her anecdotes about the females she encountered along the way. She writes about women that screwed her over and disrespected her and others that supported her and stuck up for her. One description of a non-supportive female colleague stuck out:

“This producer was a woman, a type I became acquainted with at the beginning of my stand-up career in Denver. I cared little for them: blondes in high heels who were so anxious to reach the professional level of the men they worshipped, fawned over, served, built up, and flattered that they would stab other women in the back. They are the ultimate weapon used by men against actual feminists who try to work in media, and they are never friends to other women, you can trust me on that.”

Mother’s Day Style Stealer: Roseanne’s Relaxed ’90s Look

It’d be a little bit of a stretch to call Roseanne Barr, the star of the revolutionary ’90s sitcom “Roseanne,” a style icon. But we do love the laidback look of the whole Connor family, and hey, obviously the ’90s are back in a big way. So in honor of Roseanne as the queen of snarky moms, and Mother’s Day in general, we’ve cobbled together this Style Stealer look. Check it out after the jump! Keep reading »
