“I had an agent that told me not to speak in meetings because I was too intelligent and it was stressing to the men. It was a woman that told me that. I didn’t say anything, then I went to my car and kind of cried and then I was, like, ‘Fuck you’… [I]t’s been amazing changing gears and doing things that honor my brain….I spent the better part of 15 years not being myself, and I’m just kind of over that.”
“Charmed” actress Rose McGowan told “HuffPost Live” that two years ago, she was scolded by an agent for speaking well in meetings. She says that only lately has she gotten comfortable acting like her true self and speaking her mind instead of blending into what she thought others wanted her to be in the male-dominated film business. Her full interview is pretty kickass, and full of clever observations about the overt sexism she’s seen over the years in Hollywood. [Huffington Post]
Rose? Rose? Over here Rose? I know you like to do weird things with your hair — I get it. Maybe blondes do have more fun or something. It’s not exactly the hair color that I’m quarreling with. It’s more…just…everything? Like, do you really need to be sporting a clear rain poncho? Plus white jeans? Plus a strange owl sweatshirt? The whole effect is very unsettling. If you need to talk to someone, I’m here.
Rose McGowan: I’m not sure what she’s been up to lately, but hey, major props to her for keeping it so pale. In a Southern California world rife with tanorexics, McGowan’s vibe is decidedly gothy. “Conan the Barbarian” star Rose McGowan insists she’s got a lot of gay pride. In fact, the actress claims that she makes even her gay friends seem not as gay when she’s around.
“I believe I’m a gay man in a woman’s body, which my boyfriend doesn’t like,” she says.
“I only realized I was even gayer than all of my gay friends when I made one of them go to a Zac Efron movie.” Read more… Keep reading »
Sneaking around on your spouse is all the rage in Hollywood. Just this weekend, Angelina Jolie, openly admitted she and Brad Pitt fell in love while he was still very married to Jennifer Aniston. Ouch! But she wasn’t the only one messing around in tinsel town. Téa Leoni has allegedly been messing around on David Duchovny with Angelina’s ex, Billy Bob Thornton? Oh, the incestuous web celebrities weave! Alas, in Hollywood, cheating the camera isn’t just an acting technique, but off-screen it can get a whole lot trickier. More, after the jump…

I’m a die-hard “Nip/Tuck” fan. Those LA plastic surgeons and their plastic patients — they’re all so strange. I love this surreal new promotional spot for the upcoming sixth season, which premieres on FX on January 6, 2009. The forthcoming episodes will include guest star Rose McGowan as plastic surgeon Teddy Lowe, reuniting her with her “Charmed” costar, Julian McMahon. If the promo is any forecast of what the sixth season holds — with its synchronized plasticized ladies dancing around with surgical scalpels and syringes — I’ll be tuning in for sure. Keep reading »
Barbarella is an inter-gallactic sex symbol, a lover and a fighter, and she’s coming back to the big screen! Director Robert Rodriguez, who is known for being Quentin Tarantino’s boy crush and for stylized films like Sin City and Planet Terror, is now taking on the swinging ’60s space odyssey. And he’s going above and beyond to stick to the original — even behind the scenes. Rose McGowan, Rodriguez’s fiancee, has signed on to fill the go-go boots of Jane Fonda, whose husband Roger Vadim directed the original in ‘68. Although filming had been delayed due to the writers’ strike, hopefully the impending Screen Actors Guild strike won’t get in Barbarella’s way. But if there’s one thing we know about the Amazon woman, nothing and no one can stop her! [Media Morgue] Keep reading »
