At the British Fashion Awards earlier this week, Sienna Miller debuted a new shade of blonde hair best described as “rose gold.” Basically a very light pink with orange tint, those plebeians at Crayola would probably call it “peach.” I happen to think this wash of color is quite pretty on the right person. And as a number of other celebs have demonstrated, rose gold color can be used in subtle highlights or as an overall color. Click on to see what I mean…

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, or so we’ve heard, but we’ll argue that rose gold is kind of our new squeeze. We don’t discriminate when it comes to precious metals, but there’s something about this one in particular that’s just so pretty. Its warm pinkish tone is so flattering on hands, and it’s less expected than the usual bronze and silver. For now, at least — rose gold is blowing up, and we may or may not be jumping on the bandwagon. Get the details on these 13 pretty rose gold pieces, and maybe we can match!
I usually go for crazy nail polish colors like neon pink and rainbow glitter, but the other day I randomly bought a bottle of rose gold polish, and the surprisingly subtle shade is shaping up to be my new favorite. Is it just me, or was the beauty for this year’s Oscars kind of a bore? The ladies looked lovely as always, but for the life of me I couldn’t pick out a makeup look that really wowed. Maybe it’s because some of the real stunners, the young actresses who can afford to dare to stand out from the pack, skipped the ceremony entirely and made their way over to the Vanity Fair party a few hours early instead. Basically every time Elizabeth Olsen, who’s quickly becoming my favorite Olsen, leaves the house and is photographed, I subsequently covet to death whatever makeup she’s wearing — she always looks fresh-faced and pretty, never overdone. Predictably the Vanity Fair fête was no exception, but it was her appearance the night before at the Independent Spirit Awards that really stuck with me: the rose gold eyeshadow she sported is well on its way to becoming a major trend. The girls in Glamour‘s beauty department were one step ahead of me in identifying the frequency with which the gorgeously gilded shade has been worn. Let me tell you, I’ll take anything rose gold without question, but I’m really in love with it when swiped on lids. Here are the products you can use to get this celeb-approved look.
Throughout my entire life my mother stressed natural beauty. She never let me experiment when it came to hair trends: no dyes –- temporary or permanent, and no unconventional cuts. The worst was every September, while the other girls got their back-to-school highlights, I stuck to the same boring style.
Now in my early twenties, I adhered to my mother’s rules, until I met Aura Friedman.
A petite hairstylist with spunk to spare, Aura is a very in-demand hair colorist who has coiffed many a celebrity. From Lady Gaga to M.I.A., she has even colored entire runway shows including Alexander McQueen. Which brings me to my recent hair makeover. Read more…
