Robin Thicke Finally Stops Begging Paula Patton To Take Him Back

  • Robin Thicke is “done begging” Paula Patton to continue their marriage and has accepted that their relationship is over. Wait, you mean she thought his entire album of songs about her was creepy?! [TMZ]

  • Marcus Grodd from this season of “The Bachelorette” has moved on from Andi Dorfman rather quickly: he’s engaged to his “Bachelor In Paradise” co-star Lacy Faddoul. Don’t remember her? She was excised from Juan Pablo’s season of “The Bachelor” on the very first night. Considering that “Bachelor In Paradise” filmed throughout the month of June — meaning these two have known each other for a month — we’re just a wee bit worried that Marcus is hella rebounding. The first time I really listened to the lyrics of “Blurred Lines,” I was like, “This is my JAM!” It only took a few minutes of Googling and reading my favorite feminist blogs, though, before I started becoming horrified and dismayed at the feminist community’s reaction to the song. The Daily Beast kicked off a knee-jerk party by calling it a “rape song,” and from there it was over. Feminist blog after feminist blog started jumping on the bandwagon, then the fervor spread to major news outlets, and all summer I was mired in language that made me feel excluded from a community into which I’ve invested not only my time and energy, but also my identity.

Let me be clear, Robin Thicke as a person seems like a giant douchenozzle and his latest album is pathetic. But I looooove “Blurred Lines.” The accusation that it’s “rapey” is unfounded if you look at the entire song in context: It’s about two sexually expressive people flirting. That’s it. At no point in the song does the male narrator imply that he’s willing or going to bypass consent. The idea that it’s about the “blurred lines of consent” was projected onto it by people who came to the song with prior hangups. The “blurred line” he’s referring to is the line of knowing or not knowing if the person you’re flirting with is into you. Like, “I’m pretty sure I know you want it, but you haven’t expressly said so, so we’re still in this hazy flirting territory.” He doesn’t say — at all, ever — “I know you want it, and whether or not that’s actually true, I’m going to take it.” But nonetheless, that’s what it was made out to be. I guess at some point The Frisky should start ignoring Robin Thicke and his cries for attention. But right now we’re still caught in the vicious What, really? REALLY?!? cycle. Today, Thicke released a new music video from Paula, his album about estranged wife Paula Patton, for a song called “Still Madly Crazy.” The melancholy song itself is meh, but the music video has a group of cute kids reenacting a wedding. Possibly Paula and Robin’s wedding, as the little groom is a white boy and the little bride is a Black girl. Anyway, it’s seriously the cutest music video … but dudebro really needs to stop it already. All the public pressure Thicke is putting on his estranged wife to take him back is just dickish at this point. [YouTube] Keep reading »

Let's Revel In The Most Glorious #AskThicke Tweets

Last night, VH1 asked Twitters users to tweet interview questions for Robin Thicke — big mistake. The #AskThicke hashtag took a totally different turn than the network planned and became a sounding board for Thicke’s creepy, misogynistic behavior. Watching him get called out on his douchecanoe behavior was some of the better entertainment I’ve seen in a while. Here are some of the best… Keep reading »

Robin Thicke & Paula Patton Announce That They’re Separating

In case you haven’t noticed, Robin Thicke has no interest in being coy about his separation with Paula Patton after 10 years of marriage. His upcoming album “Paula” drops on July 1st with songs like “Get Her Back,” “Forever Love,” and “Too Little Too Late.” Just in case the tour (which we’re assuming is just Thicke pulling a Say Anything) doesn’t send a loud enough message to Ms. Patton, maybe these B-Sides will do the trick: Keep reading »

Robin Thicke Tries To Woo Paula Patton Back With Self-Flagellating Video For “Get Her Back”

Robin Thicke Airs His Dirty Laundry

Robin Thicke sure is sorry he was photographed groping that girl’s butt. And he’s very sorry that he and Miley Cyrus humped each other onstage at the VMAs. But even after he and his wife of 10 years Paula Patton released a statement in February saying “we have mutually decided to separate at this time,” Thicke is laying it on, well, thick to get her back. And “Get Her Back” just so happens to be the first video Thicke has released from his upcoming album, called Paula, featuring a track list of songs that mostly appear to be about Patton.

Some might call his desperateion stalker-ish and obsessive. I, personally, think it brings to mind Justin Bieber-level, “Grand Sweeping Gestures Will Prove I’m Not A Douchecanoe,” of relationship maturity. In any case, if the “Paula” text messages in this video are remotely accurate, she doesn’t seem too ready to hop on this crazy train again. [YouTube]

Robin Thicke's Paula Track Listing Revealed -- And It's A Little Nutty

Speaking of “apology tours,” Robin Thicke has released the track list for his upcoming album, Paula — named after his estranged wife Paula Patton — and it is a sad, obsessive mess. We already have heard the single, “Get Her Back,” and the majority of 13 other songs on the album, title-wise at least, seem to be referencing Thicke’s quest to do just that: Keep reading »

Michael Fassbender Dances To “Blurred Lines,” Gives Robin Thicke A Run For His Money

Michael Fassbender Knows You Want It

So, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman and James McAvoy are in a movie together? Some kind of “X-Men” thing? I don’t know, I don’t really care. The important thing is, the hunky trio hit up the “The Graham Norton Show” together and performed the dance moves from “Blurred Lines.”  Robin Thicke had better watch his slimy back. Fassy’s got those moves down***. And he is way hotter, if I do say so myself. [YouTube]

***Given Michael Fassbender’s rumored past history of domestic abuse and the fact that some people think that “Blurred Lines” is a song condoning rape culture, I realize not everyone may share my glee at his dance moves. However, let’s just appreciate a silly video, shall we?

Robin Thicke Might Be Even Sleazier Than We Thought

  • Robin Thicke is threatening to sue Star and OK magazine over claims that he and Paula Patton had an open relationship with a massage therapist named Jasmine. The magazines claim their three-way “took a disastrous turn” when Patton walked in on Robin and Jasmine in flagrante, i.e. hooking up alone without her knowledge. I prefer the theory that Paula is just pissed about the whole Miley/VMAs thing. [Page Six]
